Like last year ive made another percentile calculator for those who arent very familiar with statistics. The SJT scores are pretty much complete gibberish as they are not normally distributed (as every UKCAT technical report has said ever)

Good luck everyone, fantastic work to see the percentiles go up. Were gonna have to see who got the closest in the predictions thread

EDIT: The mean and standard deviations are extrapolated from the fact that the 90th and 80th percentiles are 1.282 and 0.842 standard deviations above the mean respectively, so you can solve simultaneously. If anyone notices any significant errors please feed them back to me and ill fix it :)

Yeah just forget about SJT and normal distribution, the two are basically mutually exclusive. Just the fact that the mean is 592 but the median is 603 should tell you that something ain't right.

what do you guys reckon this means for WSU? Last year there were some sitters who got interviews at 670VR and about 3150 overall. Would that mean someone with a 670VR now needs a higher score around 3250 perhaps to be offered an interview? Obviously this is all hypothesising as no one knows how they weight anything

Can someone confirm that JMP only uses cognitive subtests?
Assessment of personal qualities
UCAT ANZ comprises 5 subtests – details regarding each of the subtests is available here. The JMP will calculate an aggregate score based on the scores achieved in the following subtests: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Abstract Reasoning. It is this aggregate score that will be used to rank candidates for invitation to JMP Assessment (refer below for additional information). The fifth subtest, Situational Judgement, will not form part of the JMP selection process for admission 2021.

Umm... this can't be accurate 😭😭 literally shaking rn

Damn is mean and SD definitely accurate for percentiles? surely it gets a bit weird in the higher scores around 98/99%ile and can't accurately predict it. :(

Yeah it’s an approximation, it’s not going to be too off but it’s not going to be 100% accurate either because we can only extrapolate from the given data points and input that to find the SD and then calculate other percentiles.

It does get hazier the higher you go, but when I used last year's mean + s.d. to extrapolate percentiles above 95, after comparing it with the official calculator, I was off by 10 at the most.

Just a side note, one of my friends actually got 900 in SJT this year.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... maybe this might be an error. There were some people who had SJT scores adjusted last year after scores were released

UCAT is not perfectly normally distributed. IIRC last year some scores went up +- 1% from my old calculator, but its generally not to bad of an estimation
