Hey! Just a quick q, is this open to non school leavers (I'm in my second year of uni) or would the only other option be the priority pathway which isn't guaranteed.
I think its only open to year 12 leavers or gap years. Think only the priority pathway is open to non school leavers and that doesnt seem to be worth anyway.

Hi Guys, I'm from NSW and gws (this year should be 5 years)
Today I got:
VR:620
DM:700
QR:880
AR:890
SJT: 547
So I got an ATAR of 99.90 last year and my ucat was bad. So I went to UniMelb to do Med through chancellors. This year I got a better UCAT and want to apply in NSW.
So for interviews, I'm guessing my WSU is very borderline, I got a 709 wsu score and I think last year cut off was 710?. Also my JMP is very borderline as well because it needs 3100+. Is there a chance cut-offs might decrease this year?
And for UNSW is there a high/definite chance of getting an interview with these stats (my wam last sem was 89 so that's above min wam).
because from 2021 to 2022 UNSW min ucat increased from 2890 to 3020 so is there a chance min UCAT is 3100+ this year ???
(also does my sjt score majorly impact anything and ruin my chances??)

Thanks for all the help

Attempted UCAT for the first time today. School leaver applying for University of Adelaide as a local applicant

VR: 720

DM: 620 (😭)

QR: 730

AR: 770

Total Score: 2840

SJ: 560

Hopefully enough as a local applicant based on previous year's percentiles and UoA local applicant thresholds.

Hello! UCAT for the first time

SJ: 626

And everyone’s crying about their ~3000 scores lol. But anyway, considering I’m a GWS student and eligible for UNSW gateway, what are my chances? I’m guessing practically zero, but it would be nice to have an expert opinion.

Hello all - would kindly love any input regarding my chances. Non-school leaver from NSW with first-class honours and equivalent ATAR of 99.50. Also GWS applicant. I believe my only eligible uni's are UNSW, JMP, WSU, UTAS? and JCU (but obv no UCAT).

I'm fairly certain 99.90 & 3090 (94th %ile?) is more than enough for UNSW interview, with around 30-40% place-offer chance. JMP is borderline as you said, no-one can say if it will go up or down.

I'm not optimistic for WSU GWS though. They require 5+ years in GWS to now including currently. Your studying UMelb could make you ineligible (unless it's by long distance).

We don't know how much UNSW Gateway helps lower the cutoff so can't say. But yes unfortunately 2640 makes it unlikely for anywhere else. You can try JCU without UCAT and/or Griffith/USC if you have a high ATAR.

My guesstimate 99.50 & 3070 is a little short for UNSW interview. But if your 1st class honours is given higher, say 99.7-99.8, it's possible.

JCU is very application dependent. See this post for WSU & JMP

Hey A1 I was wondering since UniMelb releases results by 1st of December, does that mean I could get a round 1 interview or would I still have to wait for round 2?
Thanks for the help

It’s local vs interstate. Will your application address be Victoria? If so, you’ll be a second round interview I’m pretty sure.

98.20 ATAR
RA3/MM5 - (South Australia), Bottom 25% SES, disadvantaged school according monash & unsw (presumably everywhere though)
First sitting of UCAT, gap year

Was wondering what my odds are at, primarily for Monash, BMP, ERC, or CSP, I don't care, but also UNSW, WSU, or UADEL?

I am an Australian citizen and a school leaver but with American qualifications. I have an aggregate score of 18/20 in my top 4 Advanced Placement courses (APs) and is hoping to get 1500+ SAT in the last of August but guaranteed a 1450. I wanted to ask what are my chances to med universities? Also, I don't know how to determine my state, so can someone please help me with it? Additionally, if my APs were higher than my SAT, do universities take the higher one or assess them both in parallel. Lastly, if the mentioned SAT was achieved or not, what is my equivalent ATAR in both cases? (Just for perspective, for APs in QU, it is 99.5).
Just a note, I might be eligible for Monash's SEAS because I studied in a non-English speaking country my whole life.
Thanks very much in advance.

ATAR 98.2 gap year disadvantaged school you should qualify for SATAC UES which boosts to 99.95, then with 3100 you're practically assured of a Flinders offer.

Being rural you'll get an interview anywhere you apply, offers depend how the interviews go.

Also, I don't know how to determine my state, so can someone please help me with it?
If you do your year12 in the US I'm pretty sure you'd be considered an interstate applicant regardless of your home address. If you do in Aus you're local-state where your year12 school is.

Before delving into SAT/AP, I'm afraid your 2800 UCAT is not promising for any interstate school. Only possible if you're Vic local for Monash or SA local for UAdelaide or WA local for UWA/Curtin.

I have family living in Sydney and I will be visiting them shortly, so can I qualify as a NSW applicant? Also, because of the low UCAT score, I am thinking of JCU, so what do you think?

Also, just to be sure, when you said "Vic local", you mean someone who got their diploma from Victoria or whatever the state is, right?

Based on a few previous cases we know of your state is determined by the Year12 school, not family's home address unfortunately.

Yes JCU is worth a try.
Also if you do SAT and get converted to 99.85+ you can get Griffith Nathan/GC or USC provisional.

Do you have any idea about conversions?

Does it matter if you're local-state or interstate for JCU, Griffith and the others (ATAR based)?

In this post > 2023 Entry Interview Invites DATA COLLECTION
the OP said "1510 out of 1600 converted to a 99.6, 1570 converted to 99.95", I guess 99.85+ would be around 1550.

Local-state or interstate doesn't matter for Griffith, only for Monash WSU Adelaide UWA Curtin.
JCU is more about rurality of your school years whether local-state or interstate.

If the AP scores were higher, do they assess them alone or with the SAT always? Also, I would appreciate if you have any idea about AP conversions.
Sorry for asking a lot.

A1 replies: Sorry I don't know anything about AP. Try google "AP to ATAR conversion".

Thanks very much for the help. I am going to be aiming for the 1550 hoping to get admitted to ATAR based unis specially USYD if the 99.95 was achieved. Thanks very much again. Will be updating you with any events/questions.

Can anyone confirm if we have to click on the calculator before using it for the ACTUAL exam please? For the offical mocks, the calculator had to be clicked before using it which was quite time consuming :(

Hey, thanks for the response. Was wondering my chances at the other unis individually, depending on interview performance? E.g., with average interview, what would my odds for monash CSP/BMP be like? Would I be needing to compensate with a good interview, or am i put in a good place with my scores? If so, how good is my position? (I'm not sure how to quantify this final question, maybe rate my position 1-10? lol)
I understand if these are simply too hard to answer/don't make sense in the context I'm asking, but I figured no harm done to try and gauge where I'm at, especially with all the uncertainty around a process like this
