Was wondering my chances at the other unis individually, depending on interview performance? E.g., with average interview, what would my odds for monash CSP/BMP be like? Would I be needing to compensate with a good interview, or am i put in a good place with my scores?
We don't have enough of rural-entry data posted to make a good guess. Where ATAR/UCAT don't count in the final ranking you get the standard chances being the places-to-interviewees ratio. Typically JMP 25-30% and WSU 35-40%, a median interview won't be enough.

Where they do count your ATAR/UCAT are quite above the typical rural scores. I'd say you have better than 50/50 chances, an above median interview should get an offer.

To answer generally for several members asking above, please do your own assessments based on the following

- WSU : Apart from meeting the ATAR/GPA hurdle calculate your formula score to see if it's above GWS 710, NSW 760 (could be 780 I don't quite remember), non-NSW 810. If clearly above these last-year marks you can be optimistic for an invite. If somewhat above or below it's borderline, have to wait see how it will turn out.
[Regarding SJT a member has posted that they got WSU invite with 520SJ last year].

- JMP : Last year was 3100+ to get an interview, which I thought was 95%ile but someone later said 94%ile.

- UNSW : My rule of thumb is 99.5 + 95%ile or 99.9 + 92%ile (or combo in between). If below 99.5 you need EAS or Gateway for an ATAR boost and/or a lower cutoff for these categories.

- UQ 95.0+ & 96%ile, CQU 93%ile, Adelaide 95%ile (80ish for SA students). But realistically since it is counted into the final ranking ATAR 96-97 rarely get a place offer.

- Monash for Vic students is 98.0+ & high %ile, or high 99s & 80ish %ile (or combo in between). Lower for SEAS & MG but hard to say how much lower. Interstate rule of thumb is 99.8 + 98%ile.

- UWA for interstates : If you have 98+ and 95ish %ile it's worth a shot. Similarly for Curtin if mid-99s and 92ish %ile.

I won't be keen to answer anymore these questions if they fall inside these determinations^. If your case is more particular you're welcome to ask further. Thanks.
For wsu what formula did u use for that 710. Was it 58 12 12 18 or 60 10 15 15% or something else? Cheers

was 710 the average or lowest?

Hi everybody,
Just did my UCAT today! Here is my score:
Year20222023
VR550☠️590:cool:
DM670750
QR720880
AR880790
Total28203010
SJT591591

I am a WA local applying to Curtin (1st preference) and UWA (2nd preference). Last year I applied to Curtin and recieved an interview, however didnt get in. This is my gap year, so I have not started any tertiary studies. I am redoing a subject at a broadway school to boost my ATAR to a 99+, and by doing this, I should also be get the broadway/StepUp to Curtin bonus, which should boost my ATAR to 99.95 and make my application go under the 'broadway'/'equity' quota. I would like to know my chances with my score this year in recieving an offer at Curtin/UWA. It would be greatly appreciated.
Good luck everyone!

By scores, do you mean my atar as well? I am just worried I'll be compensating for a low atar with a high (by rural standards) UCAT. Where does my ATAR stand for successful rural med applicants @ monash/UNSW if you had to say? Sorry for the hard to answer q's 😅

A1 replies: Have a look in the 2022 Offers Collated Data, there were several rural UNSW/Monash with 96s-97s, even some 95s. I guess your 98.2 is a little above rural median but ATAR+UCAT 3100 combined is substantially above.

I've sat the UCAT 3 times now :(
Do I have any shot of entry, I had a peek at the collected data and think I may have a chance at WSU, do you guys know of people who got in with similar scores?

Currently trying to stay optimistic, I d think I have the capacity to sit it again

There's only a small difference between these two formulas. The latter was a small tweak to see if it would explain two cases that (at the time) were non-compliant.

Turned out it was the year WSU started allocating more interview spots to NSW applicants, pushing non-NSW cutoff higher (and the non-compliant two were non-NSW). After we realised that we stayed with the first formula 58 12 12 18.

was 710 the average or lowest?
710 was the lowest GWS interview posted on MSO. We don't know if there were any slightly lower but not posted.

Do you think WSU looked at the 710 the person got or their percentile? Because the person got a high percentile with a low average, otherwise one of my mates from last year (with a 2540, 880 VR) should have gotten an interview.

WSU definitely does not use the overall score's percentile since we saw last year a 3170 97%ile got an interview yet a 3400 99%ile didn't. Even a NSW 3210 98%ile also didn't.

Your mate's 880VR 2540 didn't get one either because they were not approved for GWS or WSU has changed their weightings, weighted VR less than 58% last year. I didn't try to verify the formula last year, it's only an approximation by the way.

makes sense, cheers

Hey everyone! I am a Yr12 student in AU and I just sat my UCAT yesterday. I ended up with a 2920 (which was a bit lower than most of my mocks)
Anyways I was wondering if there are any unis I'd have a chance to get an interview. I dont get regional area consideration but I'm happy to do med anywhere in AU and would be more than happy with a bonded place as well. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Your UCAT has a chance if you're GWS for WSU or Vic for Monash or SA for Adelaide or WA for UWA/Curtin. Otherwise 2920 is likely not enough for the other schools.

You can try JCU without UCAT, and Griffith/USC if you get 99.80+ ATAR. All the best.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, kind human! I dont mean to badger at all but what to you think about UniSQ in QLD? I cant seem to find any info about their UCAT thresholds

Technically it's not a threshold set by the uni, it's a cutoff resulting from the competitive selection process.

From last year's data the lowest posted UCAT for USQ was 3050 93%ile (there could be lower scores but not posted on MSO for us to know)

Hi, I graduated high school in 2022 and took a gap year. My ATAR was 99.2 and I have an EAS due to living in a low socioeconomic area. My UCAT score this year was 3160. What are the chances of getting an Interview and/or offer at Charles Sturt dentistry? I am not rural nor am I indigenous. Thank you so much everyone!!!

or for UQ dentistry, Monash medicine or UNSW medicine? (I'm from NSW) thanks in advance :)

Posting on behalf of my son
Overall Score : 2880

Actual ATAR: 99.75 (Gap Year)

any chance for any medical school ?
Please see this post > Post UCAT Discussion 2023

99.75 is so close for USC, let's hope their cutoff will drop down a notch this year. All the best.

Hi,

Following is my son's UCAT Score and we are from NZ:

VR - 640
DM - 650
QR - 800
AR - 750

Total - 2840 and SJT is 639. We are predicting his ATAR to be around 99+, could any one please indicate if there are any chances of interview in any of the AU Medical schools? What are other universities or prioritize which we can apply to stand a chance?

Thanks
