These two schools don't use the SJ score.

I think I saw 80ish %ile local WA got UWA interviews last year. You should be good for one. Offer chance is probably 50/50.

Curtin is a nutcase, I can't work out what they do. Despite having said interview selection is on 60%ATAR + 40%UCAT (which would be in your 99.7's favour), Curtin has used a formula that skews in favour of high UCAT over high ATAR. That said 3070 should be enough but don't hold me to it.
Thankyou!
Curtin is also interesting given they have brought in the Casper test for the first time this year and have re adjusted so that its 35% ATAR + 35% Casper +30% UCAT to get an interview.

Again iirc last year GWS was 710 formula. Please do your own formula calc see where it sits.

My approximate rule of thumb for UNSW interview is 99.5+95%ile or 99.9+92%ile.

So 99.7 would interpolate to around 93-94%ile, let's wait see where your 3030 will end up. If the UCAT cohort this year do less well than last year you'll get a higher %ile (for the same total score).
Do you think ANZ candidates will finally stagnate at the 90th percentile mark? I mean, it's clear that ANZ percentiles have gotten more competitive, but the gains shrank each year. Also, it could be the reporting bias, but MSO seems to yet again have higher scores.
EDIT: NVM saw DrDrLMG's comment

Hello,
I've recently completed the UCAT for 2023 and got a relatively high UCAT score ( mid to high 3300s), but I'm not as confident in my ATAR - which I'm estimating to end up being around 99.35-99.45. Is it still possible to make it for UNSW? Also if I'm in the Gateway scheme does that change anything?

I took UCAT this year, and am part of GWS and EAS in NSW - I think my projected ATAR is on track for about a 99.4/99.45
VR : 720
DM: 870
QR: 880
AR : 880

SJT : 619
What unis do I have a shot at getting an offer for? (I want to explore interstate options as well).

Hi - non GWS, no EAS NSW - did pretty poorly on my UCAT this year:

ucat - 2920
vr - 740
dm - 730
qr - 770
ar - 680
sj - 583

my wsu score according to A1's formula is 731.6, but I know my sj might drag my possibility down. What's considered a 'good enough sj for WSU (although I know not confirmed yet)' I'm looking at JCU and (maybe) Griffith+USC because I predict my ATAR to be high 99s - I'm just wondering whether WSU or Notre Dame are possible options. Open to any other possible options across any other state.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi all! I recently sat the UCAT in these school holidays and I am a highschool leaver from NSW (GWS applicant and potentially could apply for EAS for UNSW). I think my predicted ATAR is > 99 currently (not too sure about the specific ATAR tho).
According to the WSU formula, my score is approx. 728 and I scored 604 in SJT. My overall UCAT mark was a bit above 3100.

I just wanted to know whether it would be likely that I receive an interview offer for medicine at UNSW/WSU/JMP/Adelaide/QLD?
I did check with the "Med schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards" post by A1 but if anyone is able to provide any advice/suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks and good luck to everyone else sitting the UCAT!

Yeah I'm pretty sure that you'll get an interview offer with those results. congrats!

I haven't done the formula calc but 690VR/3320 looks definitely enough for GWS. You should get WSU interview (offer chance 33-40%) and JMP (offer chance 25-35%). UNSW likely out due to 97-98 ATAR.

Your UCAT score will also get you UQ/CQU & Adelaide interviews. Since ATAR is counted into their offer ranking I'd rate them only 10-20% offer chances. (Correction: UQ might be more like 30% offer chance if you do Maths C equiv to bonus up ATAR to 99+).

If ATAR 98+ UWA is possible, and if you submit a TISC application for UWA might as well throw Curtin in.
Thanks for your reply A1. Do any of these universities look at SJT, and if so will this affect my chances at all?

Good luck everyone!
Hi,
Could anyone help.
Know my chances to NSW, WSU and Newcastle, thanks

GWS and EAS in NSW

projected ATAR is 99.1 to 99.5
VR : 720
DM: 710
QR: 900
AR : 860
Total: 3190
SJT : 597
A1 WSU fourmula 766

Any possible form other states?

Hi everyone! I sat the UCAT recently and would like to know my chances to an interview to any unis in Australia (preferably NSW or QLD). Here's some more information:
  • Highschool leaver NSW
  • GWS applicant (at least for WSU, not sure for other unis)
  • UCAT:
    • VR: 700
    • DM: 770
    • QR: 750
    • AR: 890
    • Total: 3110
    • SJT: 644
    • WSU aggregate: 748.6 (calculated using 58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR):
  • Predicted ATAR: around ~97+
If anyone is able to provide any advice or suggestions for any considerations that would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks and good luck to everyone else sitting the UCAT!

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to know what the chances are for both interstate and in NSW, for a GWS, school leaver with an estimate ATAR of 95-97.
Applying for both Med and Dentistry
UCAT 2023 scores
VR: 550
DM: 680
QR: 880
AR: 860
Total: 2970

SJT: 600

Are there any chances for interview offers anywhere in Australia with these scores? Also what ATAR would give a better chance for Adelaide Uni, if any.

Thanks in advance.

To answer generally for several members asking above, please do your own assessments based on the following

- WSU : Apart from meeting the ATAR/GPA hurdle calculate your formula score to see if it's above GWS 710, NSW 760 (could be 780 I don't quite remember), non-NSW 810. If clearly above these last-year marks you can be optimistic for an invite. If somewhat above or below it's borderline, have to wait see how it will turn out.
[Regarding SJT a member has posted that they got WSU invite with 520SJ last year].

- JMP : Last year was 3100+ to get an interview, which I thought was 95%ile but someone later said 94%ile.

- UNSW : My rule of thumb is 99.5 + 95%ile or 99.9 + 90%ile (or combo in between). If below 99.5 you need EAS or Gateway for an ATAR boost and/or a lower cutoff for these categories.

- UQ 95.0+ & 96%ile, CQU 93%ile, Adelaide 95%ile (80ish for SA students). But realistically since it is counted into the final ranking ATAR 96-97 rarely get a place offer.

- Monash for Vic students is 98.0+ & high %ile, or high 99s & 80ish %ile (or combo in between). Lower for SEAS & MG but hard to say how much lower. Interstate rule of thumb is 99.8 + 98%ile.

- UWA for interstates : If you have 98+ and 95ish %ile it's worth a shot. Similarly for Curtin if mid-99s and 92ish %ile.

I won't be keen to answer anymore these questions if they fall inside these determinations^. If your case is more particular you're welcome to ask further. Thanks.

Thanks for the information! Can EAS boost an 80th percentile UCAT for UNSW?

I think you can apply as non standard
I sent an email to UNDA they said the assured pathway is only for highschool leavers/gap years. Anyone who has already started an undergraduate degree will be placed in their priority pathway which will require you to sit the gamsat, casper test, avg gpa 6.7, 66 GAMSAT. So it is probably only worth doing it if you are a highschool leaver.

I just wanted to add that there is also the Notre Dame Sydney Assured Pathway (Provisional Entry) starting next year where you do Biomedical Science first and then move into the Doctor of Medicine at Notre Dame Sydney. It requires UCAT, ATAR, and Interview. Given that next year is the first year that it is operating, there is no prior data or determination of whether you are competitive or not so just apply anyway. Given that it will be 7 years long and it is new, there is a chance that it may have lower UCAT requirements so if you're UCAT is a bit lower than expected, apply to Notre Dame anyway.
