Good chance for UWA given a strong interview

Curtin is difficult to say since you haven't told ur Casper quartile yet. If it's high 4th you could get a first round interview.

Any lower than that and it's looking like a second round interview for Curtin most likely.

Ive had a look at the past couple years of data for rural Students and its hard to find a conclusive answer, regarding offer spots as there seems to be people with lower ucat scores getting offers over people who have much higher? Any help is appreciated

Some of the variance would come from interview performance. Whenever that is a factor in the selection process I am reluctant to give people an 'odds' for an offer as it's such an unknown. And, to be honest, does it matter? Surely you're planning to attend the interview should you receive one? And you'll try your best regardless? As difficult as it is, the best thing you can do at this point is focus on the parts that are still in your control (presumably your GPA and, if/when it comes, your interview preparation).

Hi, I am currently gunning for uni ade med and am wondering what interviews I could get as practise before the uni ade interview. I have gotten a 3310 ucat and will probably have an atar around 99. I have so far identified CQU, USQ, UQ med and griffith dent. I was wondering if I have missed any other unis that run interviews before the uni ade time of mid novemember through to december. Also I have not done chemistry. Thank you

Hi guys, i would really appreciate some advice. I recently did the UCAT and got 2980. When I finish my university degree I think my gpa will be around 6.5( approximately 99.5 ATAR converted). Do you guys think I have any chance of getting an interview( for both med and dentistry)? Really need some clarification guys, please. Thanks.

Hi guys, was wondering what my chances were for JMP, UNSW, WSU, Adelaide and Monash?
ATAR of 99.00 but I have 1 point EAS with UNSW and with SEAS my selection rank is a 99.9 for Monash.
My UCAT was a 3190 with 710 VR (hopefully still a 97%).
Also I'm GWS from NSW.

A1 replies: 3190 should get you JMP & Adelaide interviews.
If you get EAS & SEAS then UNSW & Monash are likely.
Hopefully the 710VR won't drag you below GWS cutoff.

Thanks for the reply A1, I thought Id be likely for WSU considering my score is 768 with WSU formula and I'm also GWS. Is a 99 atar enough for Adelaide interstate?

I have questions about eligibility for school leaver. Only QLD universities have restrictions for school leaver eligibility? My daughter is repeating Year 12 to improve ATAR. So, we found she is not eligible for QLD universities. I heard Monash allows 2 years.

Agreeing to a BMP doesn’t make any difference as that only comes into play for offers, not for interview invites.

Your best bets are JCU (particularly given you’re a rural applicant), and hoping your UCAT meets the rural requirements for UNSW, JMP and JPM (might as well apply to all given they’re all UAC).

You could also apply to UAdel as a rural non-standard from memory (non-rural non-standards are ineligible, but being rural used to get you over the line) and hope your UCAT is high enough.

But also have an appropriate back up plan in place, such as continuing your current degree and trying again next year/doing GAMSAT when ready.

I'm pretty sure only UQ/CQU/SQU medicine courses have restrictions for not allowing second-attempt Year 12 students. So your daughter can still apply to UQ dentistry, Griffith med/dent, and JCU med/dent. But please do correct me if I'm wrong.

Griffith allows up to 1 year. We won't apply for JCU as they prefer rural.

I saw on the offers page people receiving Flinders, UAdel, UTAS etc offers in December. How does this work? Is the December round for gap year applicants with already existing ATARs and stuff?

For these UTas applicants ATAR is a hurdle, the place offers are made subject to satisfactory ATAR later (otherwise they become void).

As far as I can recall Adelaide and Flinders' first-round offers have always been around 10ish January, well after ATAR release.

Non-standard and Year12 applicants generally receive interview invites at the same time.

JMP & WSU invites are sent out before ATAR is released (thus before end-of-year GPA is known). These invites are not GPA/ATAR dependent, but if later fail to meet the hurdle they will be excluded from place-offer consideration.

UNSW invites are scheduled for after ATAR release, by that time end-of-year GPA should be known.
If not these late-GPA applicants (for UNSW & JCU) will be invited to their 2nd-round interviews in January.

Yep, can confirm @A1’s reply that UTAS often make conditional offers to rural applicants who then need to meet the ATAR hurdle for their category.

UON interview invites are based entirely on UCAT scores - one pool for non-rural, and another for rural + biomed graduates.
In 2022 the UCAT cutoff for rural students was around 2560. Im not sure what it was in 2023, but I got an interview with 2670. My score was the lowest I’ve seen reported. It’s most likely the cutoff will increase again this year. Probably by around 100 points, as that seems to be the pattern.
