Non-standard and Year12 applicants generally receive interview invites at the same time.

JMP & WSU invites are sent out before ATAR is released (thus before end-of-year GPA is known). These invites are not GPA/ATAR dependent, but if later fail to meet the hurdle they will be excluded from place-offer consideration.

UNSW invites are scheduled for after ATAR release, by that time end-of-year GPA should be known.
If not these late-GPA applicants (for UNSW & JCU) will be invited to their 2nd-round interviews in January.

A1 replies: Unfortunately your ATAR wouldn't be enough for UNSW/Monash, your 731.6 is a little below WSU-GWS cutoff, your 3130 also just misses the other med cutoffs. Let's hope the cutoffs drop lower this year. I don't know much about the dent schools to help.

From results posted last year a 99.4 + 99%ile 3320 did not get UNSW interview. It was clear indication if one is below the ATAR cutoff (which was 99.5 last year, can be different this year) even a top UCAT won't help balance up.

Once you have 99.5+ it seems 95%ile 3120 is sufficient.
One 92%ile 3040 got UNSW interview but that apparently was with EAS.

The MAP itself isn't marked for the final ranking. The interviewers use it as prompts to discuss about yourself, so the downside is if what you write in the MAP are inconsistent with what you tell in the interview it won't do you any favours.

Or do I need to score higher in the HSC to get an offer for UNSW?

This^ doesn't matter for the ATAR-hurdle schools like JPM & JMP.
Otoh it does raise your place-offer chances at the schools that count ATAR in their final ranking like UNSW, JCU, UQ, Monash, Adelaide.

Strictly speaking you shouldn't even ask the question "need you score higher". The default answer is you need to score as high as you possibly can as it's bound to be useful somewhere.

No, not even close. They will be quite a while away yet. Applications have even closed yet.

UAC definitely has a key dates page. I’d imagine VTAC etc does to. Plus the individual unis may have other dates to know that are important do check them out directly also.

Just wondering if I could get any advice on the possibility of a UNSW + Western Sydney interview, and if it's likely I've met the JMP cutoff? Any advice about interstate uni options and preferencing would be really helpful too.

Hey, congrats! Interstate I'm not too sure.

For UNSW, you'd need EAS to unfortunately boost your Atar to 99.5+ in order to receive an interview.

For WSU, If you are GWS, your 751 calculated score will get you over the cut off for an interview according to last years stats. I read somewhere that last year's cut off for GWS was 740 and 780 for NSW.

For JMP, I think you will get an interview, it is likely you have met this years cut off!

What percentile do you guys reckon a score of 98.8 atar and 3200 ucat has to score in the interview to get Monash or UNSW offer? I am from VIC and is eligible for Monash Guarantee, SEAS and EAS. Any help would much be appreciated

Curtin is very reliant on Casper results to get Interview. How did that go? Hopefully well given your SJT score is good. Also are you only considering medicine? How about dent at UWA? As a local non-rural, non Broadway/non StepUp candidate, 2830 could be enough for dent interview maybe.

If the threshold doesn't go up from last year you might be good to get a UWA interview.

For Curtin you can get a second round interview for the January round given your Casper is ~4th quartile

a but unrelated but I was just wondering if anyone knows how much hsc influences atar, particiularly if you go to a top 5 selective school. if my predicted atar after trials is 95, how much is it possible for me to raise it in hsc? cos like, i know some people who graduated from my school who got lower than their predicted atar because the hsc was easier than their internals so it kind of diluted her high mark (i'm not actually sure what her predicted atar was though so it's possible you have to be doing a lot better than me for this to happen). thank youuuu

HSC results are typically 50/50 combination of your [external exam marks] & [internal school marks *after moderation*]

Internal school marks do NOT directly affect your HSC results since thay will be moderated/adjusted to be comparable with the school-cohort's external exam marks.

In your example, since externals were easier that student scored say 90 average. Internals were difficult she scored only say 84 average. It gives the false impression that her HSC would be (90+84)/2 = 87 average. But in fact her internals 84 would be moderated to match the 90 externals, her HSC would be (90+90)/2 = 90 average.

The moderation process is super complicated in detail. The basic principle is you do the best you can in the externals, their high marks will lift up your internals before thay are combined into HSC marks.

Hey, I was just deciding on my last preference for QTAC and was wondering if I could get some assistance. I'm weighing up either choosing griffith dent or griffith med for my last preference. I've already chosen USC med as a preference because I heard it had a lower (99.8) atar cutoff than griffith (99.85), however I also sa w that they only have 20 spots compared to griffith's 60 potentially meaning more competition for spots this year as more ppl would be aware of the lower atar cutoff hence raising it higher? The reasoning behind choosing griffith dent is solely due to the mmi interview practise for uade med. As I have 0 intention to actually doing griffith dent due to the moving interstate, the two years of FFP and due to it being dentistry. Do you guys think its worth keeping griffith med as a means to have a higher chance of getting med potentially over USC, or it is more beneficial to keep griffith dent for an additonal interview to use as practise. btw my ucat is 3310 and afaik thats enough for a griffith dent interview and I don't have an atar yet.
