YES closure is exactly what we need, not knowing is the worst feeling ever. When I first left that exam hall I didn't think or really care about about it at all, but this week has been eating me alive. I guess you and others are right though, still have year 12 to do. Anyway hope all goes well for you!!

hahah thankyou, best of luck to you too! Year 12 will keep you plenty busy ;)

Hi all, I hope the UMAT goes well for everyone. Just wondering, I found s2 and s3 relatively alright but found s1 really hard and ended up blind guessing 28 odd questions due to poor time management with mostly b’s for the answers. Is there any point of remaining hopeful to meet the 50/50/50 cut off for some universities? I’m really worried I won’t meet the cut off due to s1.

Heyo, if its any reassurance, I rushed s1 last year making 15 or so blind guesses and managed >50 for it. However, there's no point tossing and turning over it now since its over and there's nothing we can do about it. We'll see what happens come to results day and it appears that quite a few people found s1 difficult this year altho difficulty is subjective. Best of luck.

Acer response regarding the noise disruption during Sydney PM umat session:

“We have received an incident report regarding the events you described in your email and have sought further clarification from the test supervisor regarding the matter. At three separate intervals music could be heard coming from another building. The music lasted approximately 2 minutes each time and the test supervisors addressed the issue with venue staff. At the time of the booking, the test venue was informed of the nature of the exam and that there should not be any potential noise disruption. It is unfortunate that despite this, an event was held in the vicinity. While we understand that you may have found the noise distracting, disruptions may at times occur during the test which are outside the control of ACER and the test supervision staff. All efforts are made to keep disturbances to a minimum.

The UMAT Team

LOL so they're gonna do f**k all. Bro, I feel sorry for you guys. :(

It would be naive to think ACER would do anything about this, and I can't really blame them because there isn't much they can do anyway. The email said there were 3 incidents of noise, because I only heard one. I must have been really bogged up on a question because I didn't notice the other 2.

No one really thought they would do something but it’s interesting to see what they say loll

I hope ACER decides to take pity on us PM test takers and scales us a smidgen higher, even if they don't disclose it. They have acknowledged the noise (which personally i found very distracting).. Fingers crossed!

I think they could do that behind the scene. But don't want to announce it publicly in case it sets a precedent they are held to in the future even for trivial disturbance.

On a serious note, how did those who sat the UMAT twice or more find the AM vs PM times work for them?

Last year I had AM session, and even thought I got less sleep I felt more alert and had more energy in the exam.

This year I had PM session, and while I got more sleep, I ended up feeling sluggish about halfway through the exam, could be because of section 1 throwing me off or I was thinking probably that it was starting to (and did) get dark outside.

What are your guys thoughts on AM vs PM?

I sleep at like 5am so I can never be awake before 10am

simple maths tells me I need to do PM session

For my 9am labs I’m always on like 3hr sleep lollll

Definitely not a morning person

I did umat 3 times and all three times were in the PM. I think I wake up like 10am (early) on a umat day

Well sometimes you can sleep for 6 hours and feel refreshed, and sometimes you can sleep for 8 hours and feel groggy. I think it is about having a consistent sleep pattern in the lead up the exam and then picking whichever time slot you think you feel more alert in.

Does anyone know the date that non-standards need to apply to UAC by? And do we apply as undergraduate? Is the process different to high school application?

The general process including dates is the same, but click No to "Completing Y12 in 2018?"
(I remember 3 years ago it was around $45, now $70. That's 15% inflation per year!)
