Pls help how do I get UMAT out of my mind until results, it’s taking over my thoughts.
I'm not familiar with your school system at all, but surely at this stage of the year you still have year 12/university marks to keep you occupied?

I know they're not emphasized quite as much at some of the Aussie schools, but don't you still need to be sort of top 1-5% academically?

If you need something to stress about, stress about that :p

Seriously though, Smelly boy pretty much sums it up. You're going to have to deal with this kind of anticipatory stress quite frequently during a medical career - best to start learning how early.

Interesting point. However, I highly doubt ACER will mislead its customers (regarding "All questions have the same value").

Seeing a post on ISAT scoring I looked up ACER's info and found this
> https://isat.acer.org/results/isat-scores
Candidates cannot calculate their own scores. The ISAT scaled scores are developed as a complex interaction between candidate abilities and test item difficulties (Item Response Theory: IRT)

Since ACER does that for ISAT it's a safe assumption they do same for UMAT. I hope this puts to bed any doubts on questions yielding different values depending on the difficulties/how many others get them correct.

Sad moment when Travis scott’s new album comes out and my earphones end up dying exactly when I go to open Spotify :’(

This wait is killing me. I just wanna know whether or not studying medicine next year is over for me.

Most people I know kinda have an idea of how they went but I seem to be clueless? Like I feel like I did really badly but sometimes I think maybe I didn't...? Hopefully results come out earlier than expected (like last year)

heyooo, I feel you entirely or should I say entirety hehehe. The closure would be awesome but the anticipatory stress builds up. Frootloop and Smellyboy both bring up really good points in their replies above, the most important thing is to keep yourself occupied and if you're in yr 12, now is the time to focus on that!

There's stories of people thinking they've done poorly and gone really well and the other way round too. I guess the only thing we can do now is to wait hahah, the time goes strangely fast.

YES closure is exactly what we need, not knowing is the worst feeling ever. When I first left that exam hall I didn't think or really care about about it at all, but this week has been eating me alive. I guess you and others are right though, still have year 12 to do. Anyway hope all goes well for you!!

Funny story:
I had a friend who thought they did bad and never ended up checking their results. The rejection letters from the unis was the only indication they got of how they went.

Some people are WeIrD

I agree but I then thought maybe they had the right idea. Who cares about the number and ranking, when it is so toxic and unnecessary? As long as it serves its purpose by getting you into a course, then that's all that should matter, right?

But too bad I'm way too ken to check my results. Also, whenever I hear that (also have a friend who reckons she never checked her study score...) YEAH RIGHT. Hahahahhaa

Wth how do people do this? It's not even about doing well it's just wanting to knowing how badly (or not so badly) you went so you can plan accordingly.

Anyway if they managed to get interviews (assuming the rejection letters came after the interviews?) then maybe they didn't do as badly as they thought

I was referring to the rejection letters before interviews

But yeah some peopleeeeeeee right??

There's rejection letters before interviews?? I thought they just ignore you

Iirc at least WSU sends out interview rejection letters. The sequence of events is they send invites over 2-3 days first, then the rejections, and there's a small band in between that receive neither. These are on kind of a reserves list, after interview bookings close if there are empty slots some get a top-up invite. (MnI was one of these cases who is now in WSU MBBS 1)

Just to add to the above discussion I did actually end up receiving an interview rejection e-mail in ?late December after I had interviewed (which was very quickly rescinded in my case with an apology and statement saying place offers had not yet been released) so I assume any other candidates that had not heard anything at that point would have also received rejection e-mails.

If we think that waiting for UMAT results is painful, imagine how those candidates on the waiting/reserve list would feel. Am I going to make it? Am I going to be rejected? You'll find out in January dun dunn dunnnn

Yes, that January wait for an JCU offer back in 2014/15 was the longest month of my life

Hi all, I hope the UMAT goes well for everyone. Just wondering, I found s2 and s3 relatively alright but found s1 really hard and ended up blind guessing 28 odd questions due to poor time management with mostly b’s for the answers. Is there any point of remaining hopeful to meet the 50/50/50 cut off for some universities? I’m really worried I won’t meet the cut off due to s1.

Unless you felt like you did really good in the first 20 questions you attempted then it’s pretty unlikely you’ll hit the 50 for s1.

There’s a chance but it’s pretty slim
