Hello, does UAC offer a '''fixed'' number of bonus points to your application which can be applied to all courses? Say, hypothetically, i was applying to a science degree as to med - would i be awarded the same number of points for both courses, or less points for med?

Google is your friend :D

"Adjustments* do not change your ATAR. Instead, they change your selection rank for a particular course. As the adjustment factor schemes for each institution, and often for each course at the same institution, are different, your selection rank can be different for each course you list in your course preferences."

Adjustments were previously referred to by UAC as "bonus points" but they don't use this terminology anymore, it would seem.

Around what dates in previous years did UWS start to roll out their interview invites to local students? Their website isn't very specific: "mid-October"

Do the interview invites for JMP come out around the same time as WSU?

Hey,

(FYI I am a First Year Uni student)

I read on another post that WSU will take the higher mark out of your GPA and ATAR for the hurdle. Is this only if you’ve completed less than 1 year FTE?

Thanks :)

Since ATAR/GPA does not count into offer ranking you just need either one that meets the hurdle. If your ATAR was 95.5+ no need to use GPA, otherwise 6.4+ for less than 1 FTE, 6.2+ for 1+ FTE.

To add to what A1 said, at the point you have a completed degree, WSU will no longer consider your ATAR at all, even if it is above the hurdle and your GPA is not (so, no, it’s not a less-than-1-FTE thing, but it does have a cut-off point).

Has anyone yet to receive a confirmation email from WSU that the checking of data has commenced? I've already received an email confirming my application was submitted back in August, but I'm just wondering if somethings wrong given that last year I remember they sent a second email around the 4th of October about acknowledging the application and telling us if they needed any new information, they'd contact us.

I haven't gotten it yet either. Might just be a bit later this year, i wouldn't be too worried.

for curtin med, is a predicted atar form necessary for intersate applicants? the interstate interview round is like jan 20~ way after actual atars, so would i have to submit one? lol kinda dont wanna go to my prinicipal (shes scary :( )

See page 7 > https://s26475.pcdn.co/wp-content/u...edicine-Admissions-Guide-as-at-4-Sep-2019.pdf

"All school leaver applicants (both Western Australian and interstate) are required to submit the predicted ATAR form for their school principal to complete and return directly to Curtin Medical School".

I don't know why so for interstate applicants but wouldn't risk being disqualified on a technicality. An obscured reason is maybe they want to use the scores of the total WA+interstate pool to determine the interview cutoff even for the first round?

This actually makes a lot of sense to me. Seems like a very plausible reason.

All 3 schools send their offer lists to UAC for UAC to sort out who gets which offer (depending on their prefs), then release in the same UAC offer round. One around 10th Jan, one early Feb.

General rule is you should not have any school at top pref (for a particular UAC offer round) if you have not interviewed there. So yes it applies mostly to interstate applicants, but there can be NSW non-standards who get deferred to 2nd round interviews due to late release of their semester 2 results.

i'm a nonstandard currently studying unsw and we've moved to a trimester system (so our exams finish dec 10th and results come out a week later) - does this mean i won't get any med interview offers until after this date to get my uni wam/gpa for the year?

If eligible for interview (based on UCAT alone) you will get invites from WSU & JMP, since they only need to verify your GPA at the offer stage early January.

For UNSW it depends on the med school. NSW ATARs will be released on 17th Dec, the med school say they will release invites immediately afterwards for interviews to begin on 18th Dec (I still don't know how they will manage that!). They might include UNSW non-standards in this round, or they might not I don't really know.

Does UQ allow gap year students to apply to Dentistry? Or is it like Medicine excluding gap year students
Nah gap year is good for dent, anyone can apply for dent. Just as long as you have a 99+ without the bonus points because bonus points are only for people who graduated the year before and are going straight into uni.

Do you mind sending me a link or some kind of confirmation? I couldn't find anything on their website or FAQ? Thanks so much!
