This is the first year that a SEIFA of <30%tile has been an EAS category. I think it would be best to contact the medical faculty directly if you want to know if it is considered.Has anybody ever been awarded adjustment factors / bonus points for unsw med from the SEIFA category?
Ahhhh now I'm confused becuase A1 seems to be saying otherwise?I do believe you can receive other non-medicine UNSW offers (and other university offers) even if they are a lower preference to UNSW medicine in the December round.
Idk about uac; but I definitely didn't get any december/early round offers for op7/8 courses on qtac with an op1, they weren't my top preference. So there is that I guess.Ahhhh now I'm confused becuase A1 seems to be saying otherwise?
Well, the main round offer for the non-medicine courses on UAC occur during December. I had three medicine courses as my top preferences and a course in the UNSW engineering faculty as fourth or fifth. I then received an offer for my back up degree during the December rounds. I accepted it and then got a medicine offer when they were first released in January/Feb (can't remember exactly). Where did A1 say otherwise?Ahhhh now I'm confused becuase A1 seems to be saying otherwise?

In a strict sense UAC would withhold a Dec 4th/5th pref offer. Comes January if you get no med UAC then release it to you. If you do get a med UAC have that 4th/5th pref offer (say CSU Dent) in hand to offer to another applicant. If it had been offered to you in Dec they don't have that liberty.
That said, I don't know whether UAC will be as strict with this withholding rule for courses with lots of places like MedSc rather than Dent.

I would be interested to see some evidence for someone not receiving a CSU dentistry offer for not having it as first preference.I did qualify in my previous post that UAC may not need to withhold your 4th pref offer if it's not in short supply. So let me ask, if your 4th pref were CSU Dent would UAC have offered one to you in Dec?
If they would, there's no need for CSU to phone successful applicants a few days before offers to suggest them move CSU Dent to 1st pref.
ETA: I don't see a problem with changing CSU dent to first in the december round and then changing it later, but I personally don't find it logical that someone wouldn't get an offer if it weren't.
Is the University of Sydney likely to incorporate GPA as a rank instead of a hurdle?
I can only assume you mean graduate entry medicine, in which case no, they use GPA as a hurdle only.Is the University of Sydney likely to incorporate GPA as a rank instead of a hurdle?
Seeing that the ATAR requirement for USYD is 99.95, do their 'school leaver' applicants require to fill in a separate online application form like UNSW, JMP & etc.? Or they merely list USYD medical program as one of their preferences in the UAC ? Just wondering cause' I know 'next to nothing' on how it works in USYD.For Med? You need ATAR 99.95 so rank or hurdle, it doesn’t really matter. If you mean GPA for graduate entry Med then that info will be at Paging Dr (and probably the USyd website).
As far as I know there's no direct application for USYD's guaranteed pathway to the medical program. I believe you just need it listed in your preferences and will get an invite to an interview if you meet the 99.95 requirement.Seeing that the ATAR requirement for USYD is 99.95, do their 'school leaver' applicants require to fill in a separate online application form like UNSW, JMP & etc.? For provisional med courses eg griffith, uwa etc what happens if you don't meet the required gpa to transition into medicine? Are you allowed to retake parts you didn't do well in? Also, do you guys think it is a big consideration in choosing between somewhere like curtin or Adelaide instead of uwa or uq?
In the interests of equity and fairness, applicants who do not achieve the GPA and/or Pass or better in the designated course Human Skills for Medicine, regardless of circumstances such as illness, misadventure or disadvantage during the Bachelor of Medical Science program will not meet the stated criteria for admission and, therefore, will not be considered for entry to the Doctor of Medicine program.
Provisional entry students must:
- complete their first bachelor's degree at UQ within the minimum time specified
- achieve a minimum overall GPA of 5.0 (on a 7-point scale)
Generally the TACs do the conversions on behalf of the universities. In queensland, is the conversion from OP to ATAR done by QTAC or individual universities?
