Just missing 99.0 might make you ineligible for UWA, *possibly* missing out Monash interview.
Adelaide UNSW Monash Curtin I'd say 20% chance for Adelaide, 30-40% the others including Monash if you get an interview.
Does a gap year student still get subject bonus (Maths C or LOTE) to qualify UQ dent's hurdle of 99?

Do you know how many points they attend to award for severe health issues?
All I know for sure is that they used to give +3 ATAR as a disadvantaged school bonus & a +1 ATAR for financial hardship. I think that severe health issues should be at least a +1 if not more considering that financial hardship is a +1. I don’t know for sure but this is my guess.

If you email UNSW enough they might tell you how much bonus points are given to different categories of disadvantage. I emailed them for about a month & was told about the +3 & +1 ATAR boost.

If you get a +1 then you’ll be boosted to 99.95 which would definitely help immensely for your application :) good luck

Also, is it true that the final offers for WSU and JMP actually don't weigh your atar at all (so long as you pass the cut-off)? Are these the only two unis which do this?

Hi, just wondering what ATAR would be needed in tandem with a 95% UCAT to have a solid chance of receiving an offer at UNSW & Monash? This is considering my interview will hopefully in the top half (is top 50% even good enough)

We have heard of a few mid 99s + 100%ile UMAT who failed to get an offer. Basically there's no ATAR that gives a solid chance of an offer if the process involves an interview.

If your question is what ATAR is needed to be successful with 95%ile + a median interview I'd say around 99.5-99.6. But how can you assume a median interview when you know nothing about your competitors and how they will perform? IOW just try to get the best ATAR and do the best interview you can.

Specific Question:
I've asked this prior to the percentile calculator being released and would like a second opinion now that the percentile calculator has been released. Given my scores which university do you think I will have the best chance of getting into? Also, given that there are considerable application fees for each state, are there any universities that I can safely eliminate due to their requirement of much higher cut-offs?

Immediately for WA, UWA is out of the picture because you aren't getting a 99. The same is true for UQ and Griffith. However, QTAC has JCU, so you might be able to get in with a strong application. Curtin might still be an option for you, but I have doubts about your UCAT score for that one, so don't rule out TISC just yet. UNSW is probably also out of the picture. A1 what do you think?

On the uq website it says only students currently studying year 12 so I assume not by that sorry :(

JMP probably best ucat requiring University at this point for med. If you are open to dent Adelaide would be an option for that but med would probably be too high as it was 89th ish last year. I am not sure about Monash since you are Vic student. Probably not but you never know.

Thanks for the quick replies! Not really interested in dent...fingers crossed for Monash, JMP or JCU

Specific Question: Do you think my GPA will be too low for JCU even if I can write a good application, or do you think there is any chance I might be offered an interview at UNSW, JMP or WSU despite my low UCAT score? I would really appreciate your advice as I need to decide whether to start preparing for an interview, or concentrate on improving my GPA and preparing early for the UCAT next year? Thankyou very much.

You will hopefully get an interview at JMP (it’s difficult to know for sure given the changes this year, but fingers crossed). You’re very unlikely to get interviews at UNSW or WSU. And no, your GPA isn’t too low for JCU. You’ll need a great written application, but definitely give it a go. Good luck!

I’d say yes for UQ Dent (is that right, Yamster?), and yes for Adelaide Med interview. Adelaide interview about 7x as many people as they have places generally, but I’m not sure if that is also the case for tertiary transfer applicants so we probably can’t give you an idea of your specific offer chance. Good luck!

Thankyou - I'll definitely start working on my JCU application now but also on an interview for JMP just in case? Otherwise - I'll hopefully be messaging you with a much better UCAT score next year:)?!

Just to elaborate on why we are a bit unsure with regard to JMP: previously, as long as your scores were of the right pattern (58/50/50), you could have a UMAT as ‘low’ as about 60th%ile and get a JMP interview. Anyone with section scores below 50 were automatically ruled out, even if their overall raw score was quite high (hypothetically, 100/100/49, 100th%ile, would have been ineligible). Those ineligibility criteria seem to have disappeared for UCAT, which will bring those higher, previously ineligible applicants, back into play, which will inevitably bring the lowest score up a fair bit. BUT... hopefully not higher than 83rd%ile :D

Thankyou again LMG! - I'll let you know if I am offered an interview as it could be useful for other people too?

You should get a JMP interview. Hopefully a WSU interview on the back of your GWS status (assuming no changes in their GWS processes). Probably no interview from UNSW. And JCU will depend entirely on your written application, but your GPA is certainly competitive.

Good luck!
