Expect interviews at both WSU and JMP! Good luck and well done :)

Not questioning your expertise but are you also taking into account the increase in percentiles when giving your predictions or are you just basing it on last year? Because obviously a score that just made the cut last year will most likely not be offered an interview this year.

Ha! Yes, we consider the shift in data. We're just here to provide our own insight, not provide guarantees (which nobody but the universities themselves can).

And, to be honest, until they sift through all the applications and do the maths themselves, so to speak, even the unis can't guarantee anything at this point.

I'd say your UAdel interview chances are decent given they're revising their SA student preference system this year (ETA: also, you're rural, you should definitely get an interview). Flinders is probably decent as the UES will boost you to 99.95 and last year we had someone with 86th%ile get an offer. Best of luck!

Perhaps an opportunity now for me to say this: we base all of our predictions on past years' data and consider alterations that the universities make to their criteria and selection process each year. HOWEVER, we are NOT making any guarantees to anyone, and we strongly encourage you all to do your own research and make plans for potential alternative outcomes.

Added by LMG!: Yep, can confirm that a lot of work has gone into planning for today 'behind the scenes' so to speak, with discussions regarding past years' information, trends we've seen over the past few years, and the new information we have regarding interview/offer criteria that is relevant for 2021 entry (UQ interviews, CSU rural med spots, UAdel SA student preference, etc). While we definitely do NOT make guarantees, as Crow mentioned, we also don't set out to mislead people and pride ourselves on generally being quite accurate* and useful. You could say we are making very educated guesses.

(*except for *cough*UTas*cough*)

To add to this - do not take our predictions and exclude universities simply because the mod team tells you that it's unlikely. If you have spare preference slots, then why not apply? A great example would be Griffith which historically never dropped below a 99.65. If the predictions last year told everyone to just give up if you had below that, some people could have never taken advantage of the drop down to 99.5. That is to say - make the most of your slots but don't exclude the reality of the situation either.

Great point. Dare I say, I don't think the Griffith cutoffs will be anywhere near as generous this time round as they were for 2020 entry ;)

I'd say you're borderline for a WSU interview, and JMP is looking unlikely but definitely worth an application. I'll leave dent to Cal or Yamster. Good luck :)

Dent:
Uq you will be borderline, Although the score would have gotten you in last year; this year interviews for med will likely increase the dent cutoff, but in for a good shot, good luck!
UADEL interview, Borderline for UWA interview, Jcu with a good written, Griffith if 99.8+, USYD interview if 99.5+, Unimelb if 99.85+, Spot at latrobe
How do interviews for med increase the dent cutoff?

How do interviews for med increase the dent cutoff?

Higher ATAR students who would've preferred Med may miss out because they don't do so well in their Med interview, meaning they may then be more likely to take a Dent offer if they preference Dent, driving up the Dent requirement slightly.

At least, that's how I'd interpret it.

ETA: This is something we've talked about 'behind the scenes' as mentioned above, just to highlight the amount of thought we put into this.

Oof, Monash is notoriously MEAN to interstaters. You might get lucky based on your UCAT (and maybe the fact that an interstate offer will be overall less appealing to some people next year given the Covid dramas of this year), but I'd definitely have a back up plan if I were you.

ETA: also, to clarify, I'm talking about an interview invite, not an offer. We can't really given you an offer likelihood given the weight of the interview (and the fact we don't even know if you have one yet).

You'll get interviews pretty much everywhere except Monash, I would think. Obviously worth an application but I wouldn't hold out for an interview there, unfortunately.

Just a word of advice for hopeful interstate Monash applicants: you can take a look through last year's interview invite threads (dating to about 15/01/2020) to see the kind of ATAR + UCAT combos invited for an interview, but please be mindful of the shift in UCAT percentiles. Last year 3100 was sufficient to be invited to for an interview, but that's the equivalent of 3210 this year.
  • If you're looking at 2019 UCAT scores in the 3000 range, add 100 to that person's score.
  • If you're looking at 2019 UCAT scores in the 3100 range, add 110 to that person's score.
  • If you're looking at 2019 UCAT scores in the 3200 range, add 120 to that person's score.
  • In you're looking at 2019 UCAT scores in the 3300 range, add 130 to that person's score.
My apologies for making everyone's interstate Monash prospects seem all the more grimmer, but I figured it's something that should be said, as the increased spread of this year's UCAT scores has made higher ones much more common/easier to obtain.

You will get interviews wherever you apply by the looks of things! Potentially not UNSW, depending on your ATAR though - I'd expect you'd want a 99.4+ for a chance. I'd definitely think a 96th would comfortably land you a first round Monash interview as a Vic applicant.

Place offers at Griffith campuses will depend on how high your ATAR is, and JCU interview will depend on written application. Flinders and UTAS probably unlikely due to ATAR. Best of luck!
