Specific Question: I was just wondering whether you guys have any thoughts on what the required UCAT would be for a first round interview at Monash this year and if my UCAT would be sufficient (even blind speculation is fine by me :))

As a local, I'd think you'll be in luck for an interview, yep! The 'required' UCAT will vary a fair bit depending on SEAS, MG, interstate/local, rural, etc, but you are in a good position :)

Hard to say without your ATAR, but you should land WSU and likely JMP and Adel interviews. The rest depend on your ATAR. Good luck :)

Without a predicted ATAR we really can't say. Do you have a gut feeling?

Given they don't use ATAR for interviews, you'll get invites for JMP and JPM to start with.

UNSW's gonna need a raw ATAR (adjusted selection rank in your case) of 99.20-99.25+, regardless of your UCAT score (yours should be sufficient).
USYD: 99.95 ATAR or 99.50+ ATAR if you qualify for their E12 scheme (not sure about the specifics, sorry).
WSU: if WSU maintains their extremely high VR weighting, your weighted score may just be enough for an interview :)

Are you considering applying to any interstate unis to increase your chances of studying medicine? I'm acutely aware of the financial disadvantage you're experiencing though, so best of luck either way!

OP is a GWS resident so maaaayyyyy hopefully get lucky on the JPM front, fingers crossed.

If I work hard enough, I’m confident I can achieve maybe a 99.0-99.5?
Will a 98 cut it given the EAS?

Thank you :) haha I have accepted my fate for that low VR score. Hopefully living in GWS will help? I’ve thought about it but I don’t think applying to interstate unis is viable for me at the moment :(

Will a 98 cut it given the EAS?

This will be more than enough for JPM, assuming your GWS status scrapes you through on the UCAT side of things. EAS for UNSW is a little harder to predict as the amount your ATAR gets boosted by varies depending on your application. But I think it can be as many as 4, so if you max out the EAS, 98 would be fine. E12 I'm less familiar with, unfortunately.

Apologies for the initial misinformation, I didn't realise you lived in GWS. I have edited my post accordingly, your weighted score exceeds the minimum last year, so there's hope :D

Yes, for JPM interview, probably not for JMP (based on UCAT).

Best of luck!!

Noone on MSO can give you ATAR predicitions because QLD is only implementing the ATAR system now. Marking systems vary wildly from state to state. Just have a look at the median scores for HSC vs. WACE. There like a 15% difference so no other state can be reflective of what you guys will go through unfortunately. Perhaps someone who knows the QCE system well but I can't imagine OP knowledge is particularly helpful either. Our local QLDers might be able to help with that.

As far as your ATAR is concerned assuming it is a stock standard 99 at the least, then Curtin and UWA are on the cards, as is Adelaide (probs not Flinders unless you are getting a 99.9). WSU, JMP, JCU (pending good application) and UQ are good. Monash is likely outside of your reach without an extremely high ATAR as well, and it's hard to predict how you'd go for Griffith unless your 99 is a 99.7+. Unfortunately your ATAR prediction is really not specific enough at this point in time.

EDIT: ucatboy gave good predictions for UNSW

You must get 99.20-99.25 or above (it's actually a hurdle implemented by UNSW), from there you'll have a fighting chance with that UCAT score :)

Thank You
Very late addition to your post, but I'm reasonably confident that you'll scrape an interstate Monash interview offer. 99.80 + 98%ile should be sufficient, and taking Victoria's COVID situation into account, there *should* be less demand for interstate Monash this year and increased preference for home state unis. Best of luck!

I stuffed my calculation up in my earlier post for the WSU formula. Could someone tell my chances for WSU with 742.6? (non rural interstate)?

This is assuming SJT doesn't really count right?

That sounds pretty good to me unless there's a big jump this year. You should be confident. Good luck :)
