You should expect interviews from JMP, UNSW and WSU :) JCU will depend on your written application quality. Good luck :)

Actually A1 et al what's UNSW's policy with less than 1FTE study completed for non-standards? Will they scrap the GPA and go solely off ATAR or will they do that dodgy conversion to a lower ATAR equivalent but still consider the tertiary study? If they do the latter then UNSW will probably be out (a ridiculous policy imo, but one to be aware of).

Thankyou so much for replying so quick! When I called the uni, they said solely off ATAR. Also, roughly what score do you need for WSU using that formula?

Oh, great news! Last year as a GWS applicant you needed 685 so you're well in the clear by the looks of things for WSU assuming the formula stays the same :)

Perfect! Thanks so much! Just out of curiosity, how did that compare to a non-GWS applicant?

Actually @A1 et al what's UNSW's policy with less than 1FTE study completed for non-standards?

Less than 0.75 FTE UNSW ignores GPA and use ATAR only, 0.75+ FTE is 50/50 GPA+ATAR. So avoid being in the 0.75-0.99 FTE bracket since GPA converts very low.

Btw remember the member with 99.95 / 7.0 / 100%ile UMAT? He wasn't going to get a HD for one unit so dropped it, after being advised he'd still be considered full-time with 7 units. Yes full-time but less than 1FTE so his GPA 7.0 only converted to 98.x, luckily combined with his 99.95 he still successfully got a UNSW offer :D

Yeah that's what the uni said to me. I'm doing .625 FTE so I'm fine :)

What's it like for WSU and JMP in my case? How do they deduce my academic mark?

JMP requires 1FTE for GPA to count, so they will use your ATAR.
WSU 0.5FTE is accepted but the hurdle is higher, 6.5 iirc (lower for GWS). But if your ATAR was GWS 93.5+ you can use that instead.

Your ATAR has met the hurdle for WSU anyways and JMP will look at your ATAR because you have less than 1FTE year of study completed - so you're in the clear for both :)

For dent:
You will be borderline for UQ high chance at a spot though, UADEL interview, CSU interview (borderline), UWA interview, Latrobe You should get a spot, JCU you need a good written but will also have a good shot. USYd you should get an interview

med
interviews: UQ, UNSW (just), JMP (just), Monash, UAdel (maybe), Curtin, UWA
offers: maybe USC(/Griffith)

We don’t have a predicted cut off for first round Monash because they’re doing things differently this year.

ETA: if you’re eligible for UES in SA, then you’ll also get a Flinders offer.

Thanks a lot for your fast replies, really appreciate it :)
When u say UAdel (maybe) - is this as their likely to increase cutoffs compared to last year for med interviews? And is this same for UQ Dent for an offer? Also, does the same apply for JMP? Cheers :)

UQ you will be borderline, because the cutoff was 90th last year (or very high 89) and the introduction of UQ med interviews is likely to have a flow on effect to UQ dent offers. If you want a deeper explanation pm me :)

UAdel is this year committing to a minimum of 50% of their interviewees being from SA, so this will increase the interview cutoff for interstate applicants. I don't foresee any significant changes to UQ dent beyond the upwards shift in the percentile "curve" from this year to last year, though perhaps requirements will increase slightly with the increased QLD cohort size. JMP will be touch and go as well this year as they have committed to giving a significant number of interviews to graduates of one of their undergraduate degrees, which will likely cause an increased requirement for the rest of the applicants unless they increase the number of interviewees (unlikely).

UAdel is because they’re changing how they invite people to interviews and as a non-SA applicant you will be disadvantaged and you’re already on the borderline of last years cut-off. If I had to give you a more definite reflection of my opinion, I’d say it would make more sense that you’ll miss out but we don’t 100% know how it’s going to work.

JMP is because you’re close to last years levels so if it moves a smidge you could miss out (but it could also go down so...). ETA: and oh yes, the graduate entry program kicks in this year and we don’t know how that will affect things.

good luck!

I don’t know how lateral entry is determined. Given you’re all in the same course, they may do away with ATAR, but I have no idea, sorry. I assume someone at Uni could answer that for you, though.

ETA: and I’ve never heard of gateway entry, sorry!

It’s not used for any other non-standard entry unis. You should get interviews at JMP and JPM, too. Good luck.

For dent: you should get a UQ spot, a Griffith spot (if your 87 is made up of a vast majority of HDs), a uadel interview, a Latrobe interview (I think, not much non-standard data), CSU interview and JCU if your written is good. Good luck! 😌😎

I just googled gateway entry and it says it’s for school leavers or gap year students only and explicitly excludes people with a tertiary record. Can you point me in the direction of something that says you can apply?
