Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll get a UNSW interview at all. The hard academic cut off was 99.25 last year and they very rarely drop.

Given that SEAS/MG will boost your predicted 99+ to 99.95, together with 96%ile you are very well placed for a Monash offer. You won't have to do very well in the interview, a normal one should be sufficient.

But this is only for your peace of mind, doesn't mean you can slack off in preparation :)

Specific Question: Hello! I actually posted once before but failed to ask one of the specific questions I had clearly and was wondering if I could get a rough answer (sorry this is so late).
If I do get an interview my UNSW interview will be next week some time and I've been feeling very off, especially because I took a gap year and a lot is riding on this. Seeing crazy scores everywhere has made my self confidence drop quite a bit as well.
So I guess my main questions is: How good are my chances of actually getting accepted into UNSW med with these scores? Of course I will try my best, but for the interview will I need an excellent one or will an average interview be fine?
Thank you mods for dealing with all this, just been getting very anxious these past few days.

Interview performance is incredibly hard to judge as it’s possibly not as straightforward as UCAT and ATAR, score distribution-wise.

And ‘average’ is a term with several interpretations.

Your UCAT and ATAR are both excellent, but if, hypothetically, a majority of interviewees are all able to achieve the same very high score suggestive of ‘excellent’, then an ‘average’ (as in, “that was pretty average”) performance may not cut it. Not to mention the fact that all Med courses are incredibly oversubscribed and full of applicants with amazing results and interview skills. The odds are pretty much always against you, and those who are successful are in the minority. It’s good to be realistic about this

The performance of others is completely out of your control. You’ve done all you can in two domains now, so really all you’ve got left to worry about is the stuff you can control: good sleep on the night before, appropriate preparation for your interview, good organisation of the logistics (internet connection, being on time, etc).

Best of luck!

My guesstimate device says 99.8/97th definitely gives you better than 50/50 chance with the interview, maybe even 70% chance. But that means you must avoid falling below the bottom-third line. As LMG! mentions no-one knows what performance is needed to be above that line so just prep & do the best you can, a side benefit of that is the better you do the more chance for unbonded rather than bonded.

Thanks for this A1 and LMG! Will keep on working hard and hopefully will have some good news soon.

Just adding that your scores are past the threshold where I'd more surprised that you didn't get an offer as opposed to getting one (>>50% chance). Hence, an "average" interview should put you over the line. Of course, it's difficult to quantify what an "average" interview is as you don't get to listen to others interviewing, so my advice is just to give it your all: read up on the course, prepare yourself for some commonly asked questions and maybe talk to someone you know who's been through the interview process before, they could tell you what it's like and calm your nerves by knowing what to expect. Best of luck!

Other: Self-prediction of the high 98s/low 99s has gladly been wronged - is it enough for Griffith and an interview at UNSW?

99.55 has been borderline for Griffith/USC, unlikely (but sometimes possible) for Nathan/GC.

Interview at UNSW is assured unless UNSW has gone crazy, I'd rate your offer chance at slightly better than 50/50.

Specific Question: What are my chances at UQ? How well do i need to have done in the interview with these scores?

Thanks in advance!

99.4 & 95%ile are sort of middle of the road among UQ interviewees so give you neither advantage nor disadvantage. Which means your chances are roughly the same as the interview-to-place ratio, around 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 we don't know for sure. If 1 in 4 you'd need to be in the top quarter i.e. interview score better than 75% of the interview cohort.
