Your best bets will probably be UWA, UAdel, Bond and JCU. You'd need bonus points to push your ATAR to 99.80 to open up Griffiths, 99.85 for Flinders, and 99.95 for USyd, so you're probably just out of luck for those. Your UMAT is too low for UQ, regardless of ATAR, unfortunately. Monash will depend on whether the 50/50/50 rule is a thing. There is still some debate about this.

My ATAR is looking to be around 97 or 98. I did LOTE and Maths C equivalent, so does this mean that my 4 points are added to my ATAR for UQ? So it becomes over 99? Seems too good to be true, is that right?

I'm not super familiar with the way in which bonus points are added to ATARs. If it's a matter of simply adding 4 to your actual ATAR, then yes, your ATAR would end up being over 99.0, and you may therefore open up provisional Med at UQ (I can't remember your UMAT, so assuming you meet cut-offs). However, if it's not as linear as that (which I have heard may be the case) then it might be more complicated.

There are some authorities on this matter here at MSO, so hopefully someone can answer this more definitively for you.

Thanks for replying so quickly LMG! Hopefully someone can clear it up so I know what ATAR will get me in. I guess the higher the better esp for unis apart from UQ, so I need to aim for that 99+ :)

I've just done some googling, and it looks like that UQ bonus points system is a matter of simply adding your bonus points to your actual ATAR so, congrats on that 99.0! It seems like 99.0 is as high as you can go with bonus points (ie. you won't get 99.95), but for UQ you don't need that anyway.

ETA: Just re-checked your UMAT and you meet the cut off for bonded, and probably for unbonded, too. :D

Good for an interview invite. Congrats!

Thanks LMG, awesome to hear For other unis though (I'm from VIC, 96th and over 50 in each section), my best bet would be to work hard for a 99+ ATAR? Assuming a median interview. Thanks again

The higher the ATAR almost always the better. There are a few that don't take it into consideration once you've scored yourself an interview, but many that still factor it in, and the degree to which varies from uni to uni. For gauging the relative importance of ATAR vs interview vs UMAT, this table can be quite helpful: [Undergrad] - 2017-18 Med schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards

The ATAR cut off for Griffiths is very high (99.80 ish). JCU and Bond have no UMAT, so would be options depending on your ATAR (Bond = 98.0+, JCU maybe 99.0+). The fact that you've not provided an estimated ATAR/OP makes it incredibly difficult to answer your question because if you're looking at something above 99.0, then there are definitely avenues besides JCU and Griffiths, depending on how far above 99.0... (UWA, USyd, maybe Flinders).

Question/s: Chances at getting an interview at any uni in Aus? But Monash would be preferred.
Also, does anyone know what the UMAT cut off for Monash has been in the past few years? Thanks.

You'll probably get a Monash interview (if you look at the interview invite thread for last year you'll find the numbers you're after). Other options for you will be UAdel, UNSW, possibly UTAS depending on how it looks for interstate school leavers next year (your S2 score helps!). You miss out on JMP and probably UWS. Bond and JCU might be other options. Curtin is a bit of an unknown.

Question/s: WSU is my first preference, do i have a good shot at an interview there? Pretty sure I should get one with UoN/UNE, right? Feeling pretty good but I can't help but stress a bit

Yep, you'll get interviews at both, congratulations! Might be worth a UTAS application, too, if you're keen on a move, as it's not interview dependent and your score last year would have guaranteed you a spot so hopefully it'll do the same this year :)

ETA: Actually, for UWS, your GPA might be touch and go. How much Uni have you completed? How many years?

Provisional entry at UWA and UQ might be a go for you, but you'd want to make sure your actual ATAR is on the top side of 99.0. JCU and Bond (no UMAT for either) will also be useful applications to make :)

Best of luck.
Really? You think UQ or JCU would accept my application even with this UMAT score? What is the least ATAR i need for UQ to accept with my score?

Question/s: unfortunately, I'm not good at interviews... will I get a UNSW interview and realistically speaking, are my scores competitive enough in the non-standard applicant pool to make up for an average interview?

Thanks for the peace of mind >_> got to focus on midsems now!

JCU don't use UMAT, but unfortunately you're right to be skeptical of my UQ advice! Scrap that, your UMAT is too low. Any chance you can push your ATAR higher to bring Griffiths into the game?
