Hi I was wondering if theres any universities worth applying to? And what kind of ATAR requirements are for Adelaide and Flinders?? Thanks heaps for your help

You can try Curtin particularly if your school comes under Curtin's Equity scheme. And JCU.

If you are eligible for SATAC bonus (search SATAC UES) Flinders is a clear possibility. I think you are around borderline for Adelaide interview.

If there is another clash this year between other universities (knowing now that UNSW second round is 3-4 Jan while Monash is 23-24 Jan so at least there won't be a clash between them) I will happily contact the relevant universities on behalf of MSO and the student body to petition for some date changes.

Bear in mind that it actually takes one heck of a lot of administrative work for interviews - lining up interviewers, booking rooms and allocating slots is no mean feat.

I will be interviewing people in the next couple of weeks as well and appreciate the effort that is put into this.

Last year, a guy got 99.95 ATAR and 100 UMAT, but still did not get an offer from WSU or UNSW. How badly would you have to do in interview to be in this position?

Just a few questions --
What are my chances of getting an offer for UQ Dent/UQ Med in the first round?

UQ Dent looks like clearly-in, UQ Med is borderline.

While I understand my UMAT score is a little low for UWS and JMP, in which one do I stand a greater chance of being offered an interview?
I haven't applied to Monash -- is it worth applying to?

You are closer to JMP's than WSU's cutoff, but both don't look promising. Doesn't hurt to add them both to your UAC application.
Monash is definitely a good chance.

I think best time to ask for UNSW 1st round interview is mid-Oct, 2-3 weeks before invites are sent out.

Remember that you can only receive one offer from UAC per year. If this person put USyd's provisional medicine as their first preference, they would not have received an offer from UNSW or WSU once they qualified for their first preference.

Hi Mana,

For interstate applicant, UNSW interview date is 23 Jan. It clashes with Monash's interstate interview date 23 Jan. Could you please do something for us? Many thanks.

Oh yep, you're right, there is a clash again and I've misread the published dates - indeed there will be a clash again, lets see what I can do.

In the meantime, if you receive an interview offer for either of these, and you are also applying to the other, you should try very hard to get into the early round interviews so you do not risk a clash. If you want to go to both obviously remember to try and book the 24th for Monash.

Edit:
Have sent a message to UNSW and Monash on behalf of MSO again - this time getting in early.

Lets see what they do this year.

He did not receive offer from USyd either. He had to go interstate.

Hi Mama,

Thank you for your quick response. 24th for Monash is for physiotherapy applicants and 23rd for Medicine applicants. Is it possible to swap these two days in that case there is no clash with that of UNSW? Thanks a lot.

I'm awaiting a response for this from both of the universities. Bear in mind that it is possible that they are booking interviews on the same day ON PURPOSE to force people to choose between one or the other.

Missing WSU is understandable, we now have confirmation its place offers are all on the interview performance so 99.95/100 has no better chance than 95.5/95%ile.

Considering he struck out both USyd & UNSW interviews it could be something there, too much coached responses?

Fair point. It would be careless to otherwise cause a clash.

Since there is no weighting on the ATAR at WSU, it's very easy for him to have scored low enough in the interviews to not receive a place considering that that is the majority of the selection weighting. Given the competition for these places, this is not terribly surprising.

At UNSW, it is of course possible to have scored terribly in the interview and not received a place - especially knowing that there are many applicants with a couple of points below in either ATAR or UMAT who would have more than made up for it in the interview.

It was originally the same last year. Afterwards Monash changed to half Med half Physio for each of the two days. If you can't get a first round interview make sure you book early to get Monash on the 2nd day.

If they do it on purpose, it is really not fair for other states' applicants other than those of Victorian and NSW. We are forced to give up one. What's the point? I really hope the clash can be avoided. Thanks.

To make it worse it's possible to clash with WSU as well. Last year Monash day-1 clashed with UNSW, day-2 with WSU.
Anyone knows what date for WSU interstate round this year, and JMP's?

WSU interstate - 25 Jan
JMP interstate - 22 & 23 Jan.

Haha imagine someone doing JMP on 22, drive to Sydney overnight for UNSW 23, fly to Monash for 24, fly back to WSU for 25.

In my year UNSW & Monash were 4 days apart I managed to do them both, but forfeited WSU & JMP.

Hi :) Sorry to butt in! A1, just wondering how you got UNSW, WSU and JMP offers? I thought that you could only get one offer from UAC? o_O

We were talking about interviews, you can get multiple invites within a TAC but only one place offer (unless you pref swap after the 1st offer you might get a second, not possible for interstate though).

Thanks A1! I know Griffith is clearly-in, but how about Flinders and Adelaide (med&dent)?

Does anyone know the approximate credentials a person in the Monash 'Extended Rural Cohort' would require? I'm assuming it would be roughly just lower than the bonded students would need? Just wanting to know if anyone can confirm this?
