Question/s: Chances of getting into medicine?

Thanks A1! I know Griffith is clearly-in, but how about Flinders and Adelaide (med&dent)?

Adel Dent last year interview cutoff was 93%ile, don't know if it will drop to 91 this year for you. Should get Adel Med interview though.

With 99.95 you are good for USyd interview, Melb Chancellor's program, Griffith and Flinders place offers provided these unis accept your 99.95. When you say already determined, by whom and is it like IB45?

Unfortunately other than JCU it doesn't look promising unless you can push to 99.8+ for UNSW interview or Griffith/Flinders offers.

Question/s: Any chance of getting to UQ? Even at second rounds ? I have called UQ and they said good chance. Any advice?

Pathways and entry requirements
UQ says lowest for bonded was 181 presumably that included 2nd round offers. We'll have to hope it drops to 179 this year.

Okay so I have previously put in my results and I have now got a definite score for my exams

UMAT: 98th Percentile (58,77,61)
Predicted: 41 (IB) = 98.85

Am I still okay for interviews ? I have applied for every single undergraduate medical school in australia

No they clearly mention that it was first round cut-off .

Apologies, but I can't see where it says that in the link. Can you please point me to it more specifically? Many thanks.

Also, I've heard (and perhaps someone can confirm) that UQ do not actually make second round provisional entry offers, and any spaces left over (by virtue of rejected offers) are kept in hand for the graduate entry cohort.

I can't remember what you were advised previously, or whether you have rural/other bonus points. Assuming no rural/no bonuses, you'd be looking at:

Possible UNSW, Monash, UAdel, Curtin, Bond, and UWS interviews.

Also worth an application to UTAS.

ETA: sorry, I meant to write NO JMP interview, apologies for confusion :)

I have a lengthy conversation with the UQ medicine enrolment office. That is when they informed me this.
Regarding the second round offers the enrolment office told me this. After 23rd January they will be offering empty spaces and this will continue till the second week of Feb. Can anyone verify these info please .

JMP, JCU, and Bond would be your best bets. You may also get a Curtin interview but I suspect your UMAT might not be quite there, same for UNSW.

You don't meet UMAT requirements for UWS or UTAS.

Also, graduate entry Med via GAMSAT would be a totally viable option for you.

Do you think I could do a monash interview as an interstate applicant earlier than Jan 23/24, potentially with the IB students or another earlier interview round. I'm going to be out of the country from 21st Jan to 1st Feb

No they clearly mention that it was first round cut-off .

As far as I know there is actually only one offer round for UQ medicine. Any places that are declined out of this are simply added to the graduate entry pool.

edit: this post looks silly in light of the fact that someone already said this above. However, this information that I quoted is at least a few years old, so if the faculty says they are offering second round provisional UQ medicine offers I am a bit more inclined to believe this.

Only Monash Med (not the general Admissions office) can answer you this. I suspect it's more difficult to get a Monash switch because its first interview round cutoff (for Vic + all rural applicants) is significantly lower than the interstate round, whereas it's no hassle for UNSW with same cutoff for both rounds.

Try JCU with a good application. UNSW is a possibility if your ATAR+GPA comes to around 99.2 equivalent.
S1 is so borderline for JMP, hopefully it will drop from 60 to 59 this year for you.

Am I right in thinking rural interstate students are interviewed much earlier than this?

For Monash + JMP (edited after seeing LMG! 's post).

In general the first round for in-state applicants is Nov-Dec, interstate round is late Jan, with the following exceptions:
- Monash+JMP all rurals in first round
- JMP first round includes QLD/ACT non-rural applicants
- Adel no interstate round
- JCU no interstate round, 2nd round early Jan for actual ATAR
- UNSW has a mini early Jan round for in-state actual ATAR

(Haha reads like more exceptions than general)
