I got 99.55 too with a 98th and got an invite - seems like UCAT is a bigger deal this year? Idk sorryI've seen non-rural people getting unsw invites with 87ucat+99.1atar and 76ucat+99.05atar, although with seas. Is seas really that big of an advantage? Are people being bumped to 99.95? I'm here with a 91st+99.55 and 0 invites from anywhere in aus![]()
It's the UCAT that's a huge deal this year. A lot of cutoffs are moving up by a lot.I've seen non-rural people getting unsw invites with 87ucat+99.1atar and 76ucat+99.05atar, although with seas. But how is a 76 ucat + 99.05 + seas > 91+99.55. ahhhhh. sorry just super annoyed ..I got 99.55 too with a 98th and got an invite - seems like UCAT is a bigger deal this year? Idk sorry![]()
Apparently SEAS boosts UCAT as well? That normally doesn't happen, most equity schemes only boost an applicant's ATAR.But how is a 76 ucat + 99.05 + seas > 91+99.55. ahhhhh. sorry just super annoyed ..
It's why I speculated yesterday UNSW may now have three categories for interview selection:But how is a 76 ucat + 99.05 + seas > 91+99.55. ahhhhh
im in the same boatyeahh i saw that too and now i'm so so confused and anxious! I'm going to call them on Monday and double check everything, but I'm so confused to how they sent a rejection, then double checked and sent me an interview offer like how would they get it wrong twice?
nope definitely below 96
hi moderator a1, I can't PM yet and I wondering if u could please PM me, it is slightly urgent! thanksIt's why I speculated yesterday UNSW may now have three categories for interview selection:
- 99.95 (incl. EAS boost) with relatively low UCAT
- UCAT 98/99 provided meeting ATAR 96+ or WAM 70+
- The rest are by ATAR+UCAT combo.
What's MESO?What number did you guys call the MESO on? The ones I tried calling this morning didn’t pick up/were disconnected.
Medicine Education and Student OfficeWhat's MESO?
I think UNSW has traditionally been one of the less flexible unis when it comes to these requests but the worst that can happen is that you contact them and ask and they say no. May as well give it a shot! And please report back here if they do allow you to change time slot.Does anyone know if it’s at all possible to change the interview date/time?
Managed to change the other commitment that clashed thankfully! Especially since my interview is less than 24h from now... probably wouldn't have had too much luck otherwise!I think UNSW has traditionally been one of the less flexible unis when it comes to these requests but the worst that can happen is that you contact them and ask and they say no. Let us know what they say!Crow I've just shot them an email asking for a later time on Wed or another date for myself. It would be 6:15am my time and I asked them if I could have a later time on the day or a different day later time.
Hopefully they can accomodate as I was struggling to wake up at 6am even this morning.
I can't say for sure but my guess explanation is in this post > UNSW General Entry Questions and DiscussionFrom Selection for Offers site:
"Applicants are ranked using these three selection criteria. Offers for study in the medicine program are offered to applicants with the highest rank determined by all measures. Scores aren’t averaged, a high score in one area won’t compensate for a low score in another."
Does anyone know how an offer is given "with the highest rank determined by all measures" yet scores aren't averaged? Is it through z-score instead, or does it mean they weight each score from UCAT, ATAR and interview differently?
