Definitely a question for UNSW re. the exact logistics, but you wouldn’t have to reapply or start again. The tricky thing might be getting your fees switched to domestic rates, that’d be the key thing to follow up if it happened.

I asked Med Deans org about their database showing 5ish domestic full-fee students at UNSW Monash etc (while we know there's no domestic FFP intake). Med Deans explained they are int'l students who have gained PR, they
- continue studying paying int'l fees
- are now considered domestic FFP, no guaranteed internship like CSP but in practice there are enough interships for all CSP + all domestic FFP + *some* int'l FFP.

A1 Ok so not really related to your post above, but iirc last year they had 351~ interview places for UNSW non-rural Locals. I wonder why this would be the case, considering UNSW usually invites 3 times the number of spots? If the number of spots is around 150~, should 450 interviewees be invited?
UNSW places are approx 50 rural 150 non-rural. For the latter you haven't counted the 100ish interstate interviewees.

OHHH oops.
Hang on, the interview specs on the video did not specify whether interstate interviewees were included in the Local Count. It merely indicated that those were the number of interviewees for the non-rural places, not non-rural and NSW candidates. I think UNSW invites less? now? because they stated there were around ~500 interviewees on the UNSW medicine website, and 350 + 150 = 500.
I see, UNSW uses the term Local as domestic so it does include interstate. I can't find 2020-21 info, 2019 intake it was 400 Local interviewees for 143 places = 1 in 2.8

Maybe UNSW is selecting fewer interviewees now (or could be just last year), which explains why invites cutoff was incredibly high.

You’re correct; they don’t.
It’s based on GPA & UCAT & interview with previous ATAR a hurdle you have to meet to be eligible (last year it was 96.00).

I've heard people say you can either use GPA or ATAR to apply, and I've heard other say that it takes the average between the two. Can you confirm any of these?
Either, as long as the ATAR meets the hurdle, the GPA will be used if it’s higher ranked overall.

No special arrangements, it doesn't guarantee you anything and you'd still need to perform well in the interview (should your UCAT/ATAR combo land you one) in order to get an offer. That said, in this hyper-competitive world, it's obviously an advantage over applicants with lower ATARs, but there's no saying those applicants don't have higher UCATs and interview performance than the person with the 99.95.
If you look at previous years' collated interview invite and offer data here at MSO, you'll get an idea of UCATs that were competitive and in which combination with varying ATARs.
Adding to LMG's reply ...
In general UNSW selects interviewees by the combo of their ATAR+UCAT i.e. a higher ATAR needs a lower UCAT to be equal to the opposite. Example in a previous year the "pivot point" was 99.20 + 92%ile, with 0.1 ATAR = 1%ile *very approximately*. Rule of thumb was 99.2+92% = 99.3+91% = 99.9+85% etc.
Last year the pivot seemed to escalate to 99.5 + 95%ile. A 99.95 would need ~90%ile to make the cutoff. UNSW also added a tragic rule that sub-99.5 got cut out regardless of their UCAT. This meant a 99.5 + 96%ile would get an invite but a 99.4 + 99%ile (mathematically a better combo) would not. Why I call it tragic.
That's for interview invites. Place offers are similarly based on the combo of ATAR+UCAT+Interview. A top ATAR or even a top ATAR+UCAT can still miss out an offer due to a subpar/poor interview.

anyone knows when are EAS pathway (non rural) interviews released? I heard from a couple of rural mates that rural UNSW interview offers ate already released.

What do you mean EAS pathway for non-rurals? EAS only adds bonus points to your selection rank, and they don't put you into a separate pathway. If you have EAS and are non-rural, you'll get an invite after or on the day of the ATAR release.
