UNSW UNSW Medicine: General Entry Questions and Discussion

Yeah, we've not had reports of this happening in previous years. Which Universities are you all at? I wonder if there is a pattern there? =Medhopeful= received an invite as a non-standard. Which university are you currently studying at also?
I received the email that my application couldn’t be considered for this round and I’m from USYD. I received results yesterday.

At first, I was worried it was because of my incomplete mark from sitting a replacement exam, but now I’m not sure if this is just what they’re doing for all/most tertiary applicants.

University: UNSW
Course and preference in relevant TAC: UNSW 1st Preference
Date and time of invite receipt: 10:18am
UCAT percentile rank: 90
VR: 650
DM: 720
QR: 780
AR: 830
Total: 2980
SJ: 661
Predicted/Actual ATAR/GPA: ~ 6.75GPA (3 FTE)/ 98.40 (3 years ago)
Rural: No
State: VIC
Other Special Considerations: SCATS

Side note: Seems like a few non-standard people had issues with results being sent over to UNSW…I wonder if I am being assessed using ATAR then (?). Maybe it’s SCATS, not sure how it works or if it has even been accepted. Mods: please delete side note if it’s not appropriate here.
Is your degree 3 years long? If so, only your GPA will be considered. Did you also get a response saying that you got SCATS approved?

I'm at Monash however I have finished all my exams and got results from all my units this year.

Are you a current UNSW student by any chance?
Let me put the summary here. Sorry for making this thread messy!
• 2019: 98.40
• 6.75GPA - 3 years FTE
• Degree is longer than 3 years
• University in Victoria (non-UNSW student).
• University results for sem 2 released in early December
• SCATS: 1 category (quite strong), but only received automatic confirmation that I submitted it.

Adding this comment for reference, I am a non-standard studying at UNSW and I received an email saying they haven't received my final academic results. I got my course marks this morning, I'm guessing that UAC just didn't convert them in time.

Reading from this thread, I don’t think it’s a university pattern (my results were released on the same day as another MSO member). My guess is that either UAC converted my uni results earlier than most, seeing as though 3 FTE > 1 FTE required for conversion. Alternatively, maybe there is a SCATS pool with lower interview requirements and my ATAR was used instead? Do they still use the at ATAR for the ‘best-of’ algorithm after 3 years? Can SCATS be used with ATAR or only GPA? Anyway logging off soon; best of luck for non-standard applicants waiting for UNSW invites!

I know ThunderDragon and I have both applied for SCATS and are in the same boat.

Idk I go to UNSW and I think the trimester system and the marks input really screwed things over…but that doesn’t explain ThunderDragon as they are in a different state hmm

Hi. I received a rejection email from UNSW Medicine and I am a non-standard applicant. Yet, I am quite confused as as shown here, and even last year, I was notified of my outcome in January. I am not a NSW/ACT applicant and so was wondering why I received it today?

Hi, Can I ask what time did you receive the rejection email. I'm still awaiting any email from UNSW. I'm a non standard local applicant. Anybody in the same boat as me?

Hi! I am also a non-standard student studying at UNSW. I had received my university marks this morning but I would assume that my ATAR would count to the selection rank (99.85). Perhaps, like others have mentioned, they need my final university marks to check whether I have met the minimum (and the marks being released today may have been too late?). Hopefully this does not negatively impact the non-standard people too significantly 🙏🙏🙏
