hi!! anybody!!! please read and give me a response:

i scored 3410 in the UCAT, but i'm really worried for my ATAR.

would i possibly receive an interview invite from UNSW with a 3410 UCAT (99 percentile) and a ~97 ATAR?

Would interviewers know your personal information like whether you are a school leaver or have begun an university course? IF so would they know what uni and what state the uni course is?

UNSW interviews are mostly on what you wrote about yourself in the direct application to UNSW. I don't think the interviewers care whether you're school leaver or non-standard or which uni/course.

UNSW has said they won't ask anything about medicine or medical-relate contents, because that's what they will teach *after* you get in.

Have you heard that this is a genuine question that has been used in the past? Seems like a pretty ridiculous one to me, tbh. I’m genuinely curious about this.

At most they could only be looking at the way you communicate your answer surely, rather than the answer itself? As in, the specialty is irrelevant, and even your reasons are irrelevant, it’s simply about how you communicate it.

Not wanting to do something because you don’t think you’d like the patient cohort (for example) is no less legitimate decision making motivation than not wanting to do something because you’ve heard the work life balance is less desirable (for another example). And it certainly shouldn’t impact your eligibility to study in the first place. How you communicate (clearly, succinctly, calmly, reasonably, rationally etc) could be perhaps tested, but they can do that any number of ways without asking someone whose never even studied a day of Med in their life (let alone worked one) such a pointless question.

I didn’t bother attending my UNSW interview so haven’t experienced it, but the two I did attend had nothing even vaguely in the vicinity of this question, so I’m genuinely interested in hearing more about this!

Should have no trouble getting an interview. Last year the lowest UCAT for those with ATARs above 99.5 I saw to get an invite was 3080 (No special considerations), taking into account the constant UCAT score increases, a 3150 should net you an interview invite.

I don't see this published on UNSW website anymore to be certain, it used to say interstate applicants are subject to the same place-offer cutoff as for NSW applicants.

I'd say around 70% chance i.e. your interview is better than the bottom 30%. Good luck.

Hi, is there anyone here who hasn't received either a UNSW med interview invite or a rejection letter? I have received no communication from UNSW but have heard that others have received either invites or a rejection email. When I called UNSW, they verified my email and said that from their side it appears the email should have sent. I've checked my spam etc and nothing is there

Just wondering if anyone is in the same boat and if anyone has advice on what to do now

i received an email saying reconsideration for interview in Jan. Are there cases where they send an email with total "non eligibility". Just checking if i should have any hope. ATAR 99.01, UCAT 3070. GWS

im a local applicant (atar 98.8 ucat 3230)
does this mean that i wont be considered at all for an interview offer even in january round of interviews?
(if the jan interviews are only for interstate and international students)

Yes unfortunately, this means you won't be considered at all. Whilst your UCAT is high, your ATAR did not make the cut (99.5 min). Otherwise, you would need EAS to boost your score.

oh I am applying for EAS, which I hadn't done so previously as I had an issue with getting some of the necessary documentation, but i will lodge it before dec 26 - having applied for eas (and assuming i get it), would i be considered for january interviews? thank you so much for replying!

With 99.4/3320 (99th) what are the chances of actually getting a second round interview offer at UNSW? If I do get a second round interview offer, will my UCAT be able to make up for the lower atar since its a 33/33/33 split?
