UQ UQ Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

Hi, does '2 adjustments for achieving a grade of C or higher in Units 3 and 4 of Queensland Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent)' means you get 2 bonus ATAR points?

This is old data but SJT's are typically alot lower so may not be a screwed as you think... as long as you keep up the 7 GPA then you should be able to clutch it. 5 courses seems like a hard workload, is there any reason why youre doing that.
I only took 3 courses instead of 4 in first semester to free up more time for Ucat preparation.

Hey guys, apologies if this has been asked already. Can gap year students get into UQ Dentistry? (I know they can't get into UQ Medicine, but was wondering if they're still allowed for Dent.) Thank you

Yeah you can but you gotta have ATAR 99.95 UNADJUSTED. Sadly, you can't get subject bonuses as a gap year taker 😫

Oh wow!! What the heck. So many restrictions for UQ (First finding out gap year students can't apply for Med, then this.)

Do you know, by any chance, if you are still eligible for subject bonuses if you are repeating a Year 12 subject? I am currently repeating one Year 12 subject at TAFE (an institution in NSW that lets you repeat Year 12).

Did you find out this information by emailing UQ? It has been two weeks since I emailed them about all of this stuff, no reply yet.. :( Would calling them be a better bet?

The fact that they only take unadjusted ATARs for gappies has been shared on the forum before. Where they got that information from though, I'm not sure. However, it definitely goes without saying that calling them will net you a quicker response.

What about gap year students who repeat a HSC subject? Has this been discussed before on here? Thank you :)

Have a read of this page, then your guess is as good as anyone's :)

> Subject Incentive Scheme
"Who is eligible - You can apply for our Subject Incentive Scheme if you're :
  • currently completing Year 12 in Australia (including International Baccalaureate students)"

I would think so, the condition for the bonus points are "currently completing Year 12 in Australia" whilst the condition for the UQ med program (which doesnt take people who are redoing HSC subjects are) "You must complete Year 12 on your first attempt to be eligible"

Was on the phone with Queensland Uni today, they have confirmed that if you are repeating a Year 12 subject, you can get adjustment points for eligible subjects listed here Subject Incentive Scheme (Languages other than English, Specialist Mathematics etc.) completed in previous years, even if you are not repeating those subjects this year.

Where can I find last year’s UCAT cutoffs for UQ dentistry? Is there a separate rural quota with a different cutoff?

If UQ's GPA To ATAR is applied for dentistry, how would any non-standard be offered a place? The table indicates that a GPA 7 converts to 99.90. Considering the entry last year needed 99.95, how does that table make sense?

Hi Drifting,
I believe a GPA of 6.95 obtained from 1 year or more FTE at UQ will be equivalent to a ATAR 99.95. If you look at the GPAT to ATAR chart, every ~0.12/0.13 GPA equivalent to .1 ATAR from GPA 6.0/99.2 onwards. Base off the charts, it is impossible to get a 99.95 ATAR equivalent if you studied elsewhere.

So that means UQ dent is an impossibility for all non-standard applicant who are not UQ students? That seems very very harsh
