UQ UQ Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

IIRC UQ rural applicants for dent only get ATAR bonus points, not anything else
Yes that's true. But I meant there may be a separate quota for rural and with relatively fewer applicants has a lower UCAT cutoff.
If rural is in the main pool 76th wouldn't have got a place offer last year?

I think that was an ATSI applicant, they don't release how many they offer but the cut-off is substantially below 2980. UQ doesn't have a rural quota for Dent

(I think I asked in the wrong thread earlier ugh sorry but)

I'm NZder interested in UQ dent and I just wanted to check if I would be disadvantaged in anyway for being NZder or if UQ just looks at raw grades....? (since we're disadvantaged in many places x) ) tyty

Hi I am an international student and have received an offer to study dental science at UQ. I know that receiving an offer doesn't guarantee a place, but does anyone know how likely am I not granted a place given that I replied within an hour? On the email they sent me, it says last year the places were filled within minutes after the offers had been out. Thank you!

Same here! I am wondering how it got filled out so fast since you need to fill out a form. Many people must be refreshing their emails a lot lol.

Yeap .. I applied last year , got an offer but was not given a place even though I accepted the offer within less than 30 mins. The 2022 offers came out Oct 18 onwards... so if you still have not received an invoice to pay the deposit , the chance is very slim you would get a place. You could ask your agent or call the university to put you on the wait list but again very slim chance. There is only 40 places ( approximately ) for international students - and now the borders have reopened to international travellers to Australia , likely those accepted the offers will not rejected the offers. I read somewhere .. the average no of applicants applying to UQ dentistry is above 1000 for 70 odd places ( both domestic and international ) .. no sure if UQ practices sub quota on international students .. UQ limit X of places to each particular country or regions to ensure a fair mix. Hope you applied to UoA as well. Anyway good luck and hope you get an offer / place to study dentistry in Australia.

Yeap .. true... you may receive an offer via e mail , say at 8.30 am Brisbane time ... you have to account for the time zone difference. Australia is 2 hours ahead of most countries. eg Asia. International students currently studying there are ahead of you in accepting the offers . No sure .. maybe the university " adjusted " the time they receive the offers accordingly to account for the time difference.

Is it too late for me to apply to UQ dentistry?
If not, does anyone know by when I can apply to UQ dent?
It’s not listed as one of the courses with a fixed closing date for applications on QTAC (just Med, Vet, and Music), so I’d say applications are still open. Have a look at QTAC for more info.

Thanks!
Also, does it matter which qtac preference number I put UQ dent in?
(i.e. If I put UQ dent as my first preference, do I have a higher chance of getting in?)

Hi, on my QTAC for UQ Dentistry, it says my UCAT is not yet determined.
[MedStudentsOnline.com.au] UQ Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion
I'm aware that for QTAC you don't have to fill in your UCAT ID, they will automatically deliver the results to the universities. But is this something I should follow up on? Is everyone else seeing 'not yet determined' for their UCAT?

Thanks!

As far as I'm aware, no. Pretty much no university does this. The only uni that seems to do this is Griffith Dentistry.. But I have never heard UQ Dent doing the same.

Thanks!

It's what QTAC uses as saying they haven't determined if you meet the cut-off. That will only change on offer date.

On QTAC, does it say 'UCAT: Yes', for UQ dentistry. Last time I checked (a few days ago), I think it said 'yet to be determined'. Does this merely mean that I have completed the UCAT?
It also says 'You have satisfied the entry requirements.': does this refer to the minimum score to compete for a spot?
Just a tad confused because it says pending for other med/dent options on qtac, however it also says satisfied for a business course (which required a 60 atar) I put down as a pref.

I would say it probably just indicates that UQ has received your UCAT score

1) If I am a NSW applicant, can I apply to UQ dent by 20th Jan, since NSW offer rounds (based on atar) start from 28th Jan?
Can someone please confirm if this is true, as I want to make sure I won't miss out on applying to dentistry.

2) Do I need to inform UQ about what subjects I did, so that I can apply for the subject incentive scheme (or does QTAC already know what subjects I did)?

Thanks in advance.
