UTAS UTAS Medicine: Entry Information and Discussion

I would except they're OS and so Im just fielding emails for them. Thats why I only have the UCAT %iles and not the subscores. I'm sorry🙈

It’s all good. I collate the offers myself and will definitely add any info from this UTAS page as I hang out here regularly :)

The 2 x UTas Conditional offers to rural QLDs became unconditional offers yesterday after OPs were released. Both OP4s with UCAT 57%ile and 62%ile. I'm sure those with much better results also got offers.
There are many that I know who are Rural QLD , Rural NSW who had higher UCAT Scores and OP3 and ATAR 96 did not get any condition offers before, also no rural interstate has got offers accoring to some sources today .

Thanks CB. I hope they are celebrating somewhere exciting.
TBH They also had interviews with UNSW, UAdel and JMP in November and JCU in December so they ar. Their last interview will be Monash in early January.

Did they apply through the UTas RAP? I have both the conditional and unconditional UTas offers here. I don't really know what to tell you? UTas moves in mysterious ways🤷‍♀️

Sorry ignore my question. I just remembered they were conditional offers...so MBBS.

Also, there’s no such thing as MedRes guaranteed entry at UTAS from 2020 entry onwards, so the offers definitely aren’t that.
Yeah my apologies, got the term wrong. Was just seeing if it was definitely MBBS, which it obviously is. Think I'll log off for good now.

Guys I'm rural NSW with a 95%ile ucat and 99.25 atar, and no UTAS med offer yet. I did get a second preference offer though. Does this mean that med may be coming in another round? Perhaps January? (I honestly apologise if this has been asked before).

ETA: I received no conditional offer.

Don’t do that please! :)
Oh no! Please don't leave! I'm sorry I haven't replied I've been at a function. Both UTas RAP Rural QLD offers were originally conditional MBBS then as the ATAR conditions were met (95+) then the next emails were congratulatory emails stating that all conditions had been met and that the offers were now unconditional. That's really all I know. I don't think they'd be happy for me to attach their letters but it would be easier to validate if I could🤦‍♀️

I have a theory that very high scoring rural interstate applicants (like yourself) are included in the main round (and if not successful, then considered for rural), so yeah, wait for Jan.

UTAS website used to say rural applicants are first considered for general entry competitiveness. I don’t know if it still says this, but I’d imagine it’s to maximise rural intake and background variability (otherwise all rural places would taken by people with super high scores and the diversity would drop drastically).

ETA: it’s also possible a third (unknown here at MSO) factor is in play in the same way the written applications were previously. A FOI request may be the way to go if people really have a burning desire to find out.

yes they both applied through UTas Rap as well as Main UTas as advised ..The RAP application was emailed and attached also.

so this is the case with so many who did not get any condition offer nor the MBBS offer today ? But some have got what do we do ? can we e mail and ask them ?

so they are from rural QLD , this is very strange as most have not got any offers , usually MSO has information when people get offers but this time only saw one person . When did they get their offers .

19 December at 12.19pm they received the unconditional offers. I'm having to go back through emails for the conditional offers but if I remember correctly they arrived just before the JMP interviews in November.

There's also a fourth factor, which is highly speculative and totally unconfirmed, in that UTas doesn't like making early offers to very high scoring interstate applicants because they will likely get a home state offer and not come to UTas anyway  .
