UTAS UTAS Medicine: General Discussion

Has anyone been contacted by UTAS admissions directly confirming their offer after they have gotten over a 95 atar? I am a rural interstate student who got the offer but I was wondering when they are going to contact me directly.

Last year, people with conditional offers got email confirmations in the first week or so of Jan.

Congrats on your offer! Have you interviewed elsewhere/are you hoping for other offers, or will we be seeing you in Tas next year?

Hello everyone, merry Christmas As an interstate (VIC), non standard (just finished first year biomed at Monash), ATAR 95.40, GPA 4.0/4.0 and UMAT 98 (64, 60, 73 --> 197) I was just wondering when I should expect to hear something? Either yay or nah Just planning out some stuff for 2018 (work, Monash uni ect...) and am unsure and anxious about what is going on at UTAS. Thanks guys :)

To be honest, it’s really hard to say. Last year, the lowest non-standard applicant (interstate, local, rural, or non-rural) achieved a UMAT of 189 (96th%ile). They received this offer 3 days before O week. We were told to expect similar this year...

On that info, I’d say you’d probably hear something early Feb, HOWEVER, this year is clearly not moving the same way as last year as we already know of multiple offers being made to rural non-standard applicants with UMATs down into about 160s. Whether this impacts on the amount of non-rural non-standards UTAS then offers to is difficult to say.

Unfortunately, I think you’re going to have to wait it out. The next round of offers will be the first week of Jan, but that’s typically been interstate, non-rural school leavers. There’ll be another chunk of offers once VTAC/UAC etc offers go out, with top ups occurring all through until Feb. Not that that helps with planning your life, sorry!!

Good luck and a Merry Christmas!

Don't be sorry! Haven't done this before so was just looking for a rough idea! Thanks a bunch, Feb here I come haha. Congrats to yourself and everyone who has received an offer, Goodluck in the new year :)

Hi everyone, congratulations on getting your offers! I'd just like to know based on the information you all have if:
  • All of the non-standard, rural offers have been sent out, and;
  • If we can all expect to receive emails regarding our application status as a non-standard applicant during the application process.
Thanks again for your assistance :)

If last year is anything to go by, no. Not all rural offers (non-standard or otherwise) will have been sent out yet. But there is unlikely to be more sent until after UAC/VTAC etc offers are made and interstate applicants reject UTAS offers in favour of homestate offers.

The only correspondence you’ll get will be via email if you’re successful (or via phone if it’s late Feb), and also via email if you’re unsuccessful (late Feb for rural, early March for all applicants). There won’t be updates etc along the way.

Best of luck!

If you are a candidate for the BMedRes and guaranteed MBBS then you might receive an email, during January, inviting you to express your interest in being considered for this pathway.

Good luck.

I've just logged into the online learning system that UTAS uses and found that there is a class-list there that includes the names of all students who are currently enrolled in my year of the MBBS. There are only 50/120 names listed so there are clearly heeeeaps of offers still to go out. Best of luck to those who are waiting :D

So given last year interstate non rural school leaver offers apparently came out on the 6th of Jan which was a Friday, are we thinking this Friday for this year?

Anxious for waiting 2018 UTAS interstate offers. Look like cat v mouse game. Does anyone receive?

The class-list is up to 54/120. I wonder who these 4 newbies are, and whether they've been sitting on offers for a while, or if they're only new. So many things to ponder...! Hopefully we get some serious movement out of UTAS in the next day or so (ETA: previous offers so far have come out mid-late afternoon, so I guess today isn't out of the question either).

Just wondering where you found the class list? I'll be doing first year med this year and would like to check out my class mates

Hello, hello! Welcome to MSO :D I'll be one of your classmates!

The class-list is on MyLO, under a tab titled... Classlist.

Are you a school leaver? Tassie local? We have a small group here for people who have UTAS offers already, would you like to be added so you can start to 'meet' some of your classmates?

LMG! Have international students received ther offer yet

There are multiple international rounds that happen throughout the year, so yes, definitely, some would already have offers. It's possible there are still more to be made though.
