JPM WSU/CSU JPM: UCAT Section Weighting Discussion and Questions

[MedStudentsOnline.com.au] WSU/CSU JPM: UCAT Section Weighting Discussion and Questions
So heres a couple offers which are mad sus
540 630 610 620 2400 / 502 (invite recieved) RA3 NSW WSU
600 680 800 730 2810/ 549 (no invite) RA4 SA (aimed for WSU)

630 690 700 680 2700 / 619 (invite recieved) Rural (unknown RA2-5) NSW WSU
600 680 780 830 2890 / 619 (no invite) RA2 QLD

The only thing that makes sense from the first two data points (2400 and 2810) is that they are favouring people from the state (hopefully, this isnt the case).

Conclusion: UAC has forgotten to send out rural interstate invites, or JPM is doing a later interview round for them, or calamity... JPM is reserving rural for NSW rurals only!!
Nope, sorry I have to scratch that^ as I have now seen 3 invites to non-NSW rurals, all with pretty high formula scores though.

So as flynnscrivo72 alluded to it's quite evident JPM has implemented different interview cutoffs for NSW rurals vs non-NSW rurals.

yea, it definitely looks as though the cutoffs for interstate are higher. Such a yikes.

are they likely to inform us if certain applicants are preferred over others?
Well, they've been quite clear on their preferences in the past*: regular, GWS, rural, including additional rural for CSU and including the different 'cut-offs' (academic results-wise) for each group, so possibly.

*which can not be said for their use of UMAT/UCAT sections, etc.

ETA: would have been nice of them to be clear about this PRIOR to invites going out (if what we're suspecting does end up being the case), as it would have saved some confusion...

Why would they do this tho considering that they increased rural spots this year

So I'm a long time listener, first time poster.

I'm a NSW, RA2 and GWS applicant. 54% percentile, 593 SJT, with a WSU formula score of 613. WSU as first and only preference and have not received an interview. Non-standard

Running commentary on WSU formula anomalies

540 630 610 620 - 2400 - 502 SJT - 573.0 formula - RA3 NSW - Yes (Randomgiraffe)
670 590 740 720 - 2720 - 561 SJT - 677.8 formula - RA2 QLD - No invite (KM2021)

To be higher Giraffe's +40pts DM needs to outweight -360pts in the other three sections i.e. DM is weighted 9 times VR + 9 times QR + 9 times AR. Impossible since this would mess up all the other invites' ranking.

So either WSU has not recognised KM2021's RA2 or for some reason QLD invites have not been sent.

EtA: Same situation as flynnscrivo72 RA2 QLD no invite.
Could the fact that I am RA3 and KM2021 is RA2 have an impact?

This is what I mean by huge inconsistencies.

What the hell is going on? lol

Edit: Maybe the simple solution is that not all invites have been received yet? *shrug*

Nah I think it’s more state based cause someone with a 2820 from SA RA4 hasn’t got an interview over someone with a 35%ile RA3 NSW, and the person on with the 2820 got better individual scores in every section.

Not sure about WSU but CSU was only allocating 20% of interviews to interstate applicants. Would assume it’s the same.
Where did you dig up that gem from, would have saved us all the heartache arguing haha.

Obviously only 20% of interview spots to interstate means significantly higher cutoff. Wasted all my morning today to work out why 😂

Haha oops! It’s on the entry requirements tab on the key information page.

It wasn't like this in previous years?

Praying that they have second round interview offers 🧎🧎

There’s nothing on WSU’s website indicating that interstate applicants have less interviews. Bummed out that i preferenced CSU this year, got an invite with WSU last year as a rural vic applicant with a super low score 🥲.

Is there any reason why this would not happen again?
