Physics is out! round 2. I got 20, since class average is 14.xx, I think I did pretty well.

Edit: did anything change from last time?

18 for physics =/

not looking forward to 106...
i didnt know we couldnt write in full name cos skip allot of lectures
mate told me after that lecturer said we shouldn't
wonder if i'll be penalised for every 1 of them

19 in physics, not fantastic but its still better than the class average (14.36) =)

Does physics work like the Biosci papers?
Like 85 is A+, 80 is an A etc?

what was physics out of?

Hey, anyone started writing their MH03 forms?

If any medical students have any tips, that would be great!

Be honest about what you want to write about

In the past, I've offered MSO members to email me their MH03s and I'll have a look at them an comment on them. If anyone is still keen, just forward them to me but I'll take a few days to read them usually since I'm studying for exams

I guess they have a word limit there already, but keep your personal statement concise. Also save a bit of the good stuff for the interview process so that you have more to elaborate on rather than giving the exact same statement twice.

In terms of the second section (extracurricular activities etc.) make sure you're sensible with what you include. Don't fall into the trap of listing every tiny activity you've been involved with and being grilled for it. Team A soccer in primary school doesn't quite cut it. Be sure that you can talk about it for a couple of minutes and perhaps even relate the experience/what you learnt to your pursuit of medicine.

Personally I didn't really get questioned a whole lot regarding what I wrote on my MH03, but I've heard some interviewers might focus heavily on it.

All the best :)

I've started writing the MH03 but it's sounding really really cheesy at the moment

To any med students out there, how should one approach these types of questions without coming off cliche or the other extreme; totally cold and heartless?

IMHO if it's what you truly believe, it doesn't really matter if it's cheesy or not. Remember, they aren't marking how eloquent you are in your submission forms, because I think they only read it like 5 minutes before they interview you.

In the second section, I just did a list. If you do do one, make sure you put the ones you deem more important/impressive in the front.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tips. I have had someone that also said they'd read over my MH03 so that's a big help already. However, I haven't started writing it yet... Too busy studying and trying to enjoy my break :)

Just a question regarding GPA for the application process:

so your overall (8 papers) GPA is used to qualify you for being ranked for an interview, ie must be over 6.00. Then a core GPA(of the 4 common papers) is used to rank applicants, and twice as many are offered interviews as there are places. Then the 60/15/25 rule comes in. My question is this: is the GPA used as the 60% score here your overall (8 papers) GPA or your core (4 papers) GPA?

Just your 4 core. Once you have a 6 GPA, they don't look at your non-core papers again.
