Before. All of them during the holiday.

Ohh I see, I suspect it would be much the same this year. Thanks for the heads up about it all.
Slightly off topic, but in terms of final marks do you get them before or after semester 2 begins?

Chem marks are out!!!
Just wondering, for the chemistry final grade, is 85% A+ or 90%. They have not mentioned anything about this. Thanks

Good question. In my year it was 85%, but I know last year they changed the boundaries of the bio papers to 90% but I thiiiiiiiiiink chem stayed at 85%?

Could be wrong though

Pretty happy with my mark. Could be better though. I'm surprised at the class average, its pretty low.
Much the same-ish with me.
Do bare in mind though there are lots of people who do Chem 110 as part of there BSc, not OLY1, so many just set out to pass the course.
Do these stats look about the same for most years?

Median 67, UQ 81, LQ 52

My year (2010): Median 69, UQ 81, LQ 53 so pretty similar. Don't know about last year though

The median for our year was the same, and is expected to stay so. However, it's worth noting that your term test 1 results are a very good indicator of your term test 2 results. They correlate very well apart from a few outliers (in 2011, we had one boy who attained 45% in 1st test than 94% in the second, likewise there were a couple you attained 93% in the first and received 66% in the second.) Dr. Brittain will advice you of these results in the first week back

Judy will also tell you the A+ boundary when you get back to uni, hopefully it'll stay at 85%, depending on how well your cohort does :)
Everybody loves Judy.
I am aware the 85% threshold will be maintained, however the owners of the course are not bound to this threshold and may change it without notice.

-Cheers

Huh, my chem mark was disappointing as well, though I only have myself to blame for that >_<
Yeah, suppose we will see about that A+ boundary back in the second half of semester...
League, suppose there are plenty of factors that influence that correlation between test 1 and test 2 marks? I, for one, would like to be one of those outliers haha.

Well not to fret. It generally goes on the person, normally when a student hasn't put the effort in the first test, it's likely that they haven't put the effort in the second either - that's the biggest reason for the correlation. Though, students do better for the final exam, do doubt.

All I can say is, if you received 70-80 in the 1st test - it's not bad, try harder for the second. Good luck.

Thanks for the words of encouragement! =D
I got 85 for the first one, so I guess it just gave me a nice shock of reality to get it together for the second one haha.
Yeah definitely that would be the strongest contributor...well, it's a great lesson to learn time and time again, and truly seems to support the whole 'hard work will get you far' theory ^_^

POPLHLTH results are out.

Arrrggghhh, am pretty disappointed. Thought I did better.

Class average 21.4. Is this consistent with previous years?

Sorry, can't remember the mean score for MCQs for the 1st test last year. Maybe @4everAlone can help you with 2010 results.

EDIT: The mean score for 2011 POPLHLTH 111 MCQ1 was 20.88 out for 30.

My year (2010) the class average was 18.33...so this year the class average seems to be a fair bit higher. I ended up with 80% which seemed to be a decent enough score at the time but I don't remember being told upper quartiles etc

Yeah, scores are always creeping up. The biggest jump seems to be between 2010 to 2011, when thresholds for the BIOSCIs were increased, which lead to more people attaining 90+. Eager students.
