Meh, finished all the core papers, not feeling so relieved after that chem exam

Do they tell you your test results or do they simply give you a grade?

Well done on finishing the cores! Now you can just cruise with 101 =)

And they simply give you a grade on sso

[offtopic] but a friend of mine at AU says OLY1 is harder. I hope that's not the case, for your sake![/offtopic]

All relative :p From my limited knowledge it appears to be that very few people have ever done both HSFY and OLY1 (is that possible?), so perceptions will vary accordingly, not to mention that people usually tend to be quite anecdotal haha. To be fair, I reckon that most people may exaggerate slightly when faced with their course in such an intensely important year, and that's quite alright ^_^

So, I won't know whether OLY1 is 'harder' than HSFY in general

[OFFTOPIC]Hope that this didn't get too offtopic...[/OFFTOPIC]

Haha, I have to agree! That chem exam was the most difficult one by far... (I mean, that aldol question was just unexpected.)

Correct. I can't remember when we got ours back, but I think it's like a week or so after the university exam period finishes

Wow, so soon? That's pretty efficient of them :p and that saves (?) us from waiting longingly for them to come out.

[MENTION=13210]Nogeat[/MENTION], [MENTION=14237]CapitalG[/MENTION], [MENTION=7190]4everAlone[/MENTION] and anyone else who is interested who hasn't said so yet (it's not too late):

So when are you guys keen for a meet up during the holidays? Since we have this well-deserved month-long break :D

Sweet as! I guess we'll just wait for the others to reply to this as well...Hopefully they check once in a while since exams are actually over now :p

[OFFTOPIC]You must be pro at sleeping XD I can't sleep for the entire day (or for most of it). Ever. Such a skill [/OFFTOPIC]

Yeah i mean we can have several meet ups, more people can join in throughout the year. I'm not expecting a huge turnout anyway. Maybe this friday or saturday?

[OFFTOPIC] Indeed, it's a good skill too  [/OFFTOPIC]

Hey guys, i was wondering what sort of advantage do the people applying under RRAS have? I heard there are about 30 places allocated to them separately, do they require a lower GPA and interview score and such?

GPA needed to get in may be a tiny bit lower...but now that its changed from ROMPE to RRAS, with more people eligable, I honestly don't think the gpa's will differ too much from normal entry. But I'm obviously not 100% sure about that!

I'll be there if I can...working a bit this holiday so if I'm free I'll come but don't plan times around me!

Also I hear chem and bio marks are out?! Goodluck if that turns out to be true!!

CHEM came out way earlier compared to last year... hope you all did well. A+s

Hey seeing as your in medicine in Auckland have you heard of an Otago student who has completed first year health sciences gaining entry into medicine in Auckland.
Thanks

McClucken, I am assuming you are asking about going from HSFY to biomed? (I am assuming you know that you can't apply to Auckland MbChB II from HSFY directly)

My friend's friend who did HSFY last year (and didn't get into med), is now doing biomed OLY1 at the University of Auckland. She of course is eligible to apply for medicine, and will get in provided she meets the standards set by the university this year.

However, I have been told she had to have a "good reason" to be accepted into the biomed programme despite her tertiary experience (HSFY).
Specifically her reason was, that she could not study properly in HSFY at Otago because her mom had cancer. I have been told she got her GP to certify this, who also wrote a supporting statement.

Hope that helps...
