how's everyone coping with the wait? medsci out today?
according to the class rep the examiner's meeting was delayed until yesterday (originally it was scheduled for the 16th i seem to remember?), so results should be out by beginning of next week at the latest :) whats everyone doing for interview prep?

Howd you find that out?
Oh he got an email congratulating him on his award. Don't think he get anything from it except the record that he achieved the highest grade in that paper? Would def have to look good to the panel deciding on the med applicants tho. Go T.J.!!!!!

Coolio! Shows how great my grades are that I didn't know that haha!

well done :)

Let's just say that I have now kissed Medicine goodbye.
I highly doubt that, what's your situation? If memory serves me right, weren't you sitting on a 8.0 GPA?

I got an A.... I just want to cry. GPA is now 8.5 so im really dissapointed now :(
I don't know all that much about Auckland, but... A GPA of 8.5 is hardly something to cry about? I'd have thought that'd still put you in a really good position med-wise?

I'm in the exact same situation.....I personally don't think 8.5 is that bad but I guess when you've be tuned to strive for perfection......anything less feels disappointing (speaking from experience anyway)....
wont's think its anything to cry about though, definitely should secure yourself an interview

yeah well im 99% confident we'll get an interview (unless they gave out loads of A+s in first semester). But from what i've heard, 8.5 is a bit below par so the interview will have to be good

Hey crucible,
UMAT is required for med entry but only contributes to roughly 15% of the total mark. In other words, they don't look it at much as long as you "pass" UMAT

"But from what i've heard, 8.5 is a bit below par so the interview will have to be good"
An 8.5 is GOOD ENOUGH, as long as your UMAT is ok, aim for an average interview and you should be in. I was in the same situation years ago, as an undergrad the most important component is definitely the interview since its hard to differentiate people based on GPA/UMAT
Good luck, hope to see some of you on the day as I shall be helping out :)

thanks :) its reassuring knowing other people have been in my position before. But I've heard of people getting 8.5 with 90+ in umat and still not getting in with a 7/10 interview! By average do u mean 8+ for the interview?
Hope to see u on the day too :)
