80? Are you sure about that? Sounds quite high...
it was what we were told at the information evening this year

EDIT: come to think of it, about 400 interviews, 3 interviewers per interview, 80 interviewers, works out that each interviewer sits though 15 interviews which seems about right

Ah right I suppose that does make sense. Is it now 3 interviewers per interview? When I went through it was only 2 (except 3 for mapas)

So how do they factor in the differences between interviewers when they take the results? Do they adjust them depending on the average result given for each group, or are the three-man interview panels regularly rotated so that every interviewer gets a chance to work with every other interviewer?

sorry, that's way beyond my knowledge of the interview process, but logically, every interview panel will have a set of guidelines to guide the interview

Not to distract you all from your interview conversation, but:
We've started this thread with the goal of beginning to determine the marks needed to get into Auckland medicine from OLY1, so that in future years applicants can have some indication of how likely their own scores are to get them an offer.
We'd like historical data too, so any who applied ('applied', so not just those accepted! We need people who did, and didn't get in, in order to work out cut-offs) in previous years are *more* than welcome to share their own scores too.
Thanks! (yy)

It's all been highly standardised, being fair to all students in this process is something they clearly want to ensure so I wouldn't worry that you'll be disadvantaged in any way during this process.

not that I know of, but i do know offers for pharmacy interviews have come out for that wednesday (only day for pharmacy interviews). I have no idea why I posted that, pretty irrelevant..... *sigh* bored

Could someone just short list each of the papers that are taken in overlapping Health science first year, and what semesters they are taken in.

The papers as of current I know of, are the following 7. Are these the only 7 I will undertake in the year?:

POPHLTH 102 (SEMESTER 1)
POPHLTH 111 (SEMESTER 1)
POPHLTH 101 (SEMESTER 2)
HLTHSCYC 122 (SEMESTER 2)
MEDSCI (SEMESTER 2)
CHEM 110 (SEMESTER ___)
BIOSCI 107 (SEMESTER ___)
GENERAL EDUCATION COURSE
- (This I am totally unaware about, could anyone please elaborate on what this is, and what it consists of?)

I am not 100% sure of the papers I have noted just above, aswell as the correct semesters, so could anyone clarify the semesters and papers, that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Semester 1
Biosci 107, Chem 110, Poplhlth 111, Poplhlth 101
Semester 2
Medsci 142, Hlthpsyc 122, Poplhlth 102 & Gen Ed Paper

A general education paper is a paper of your choosing that is totall unrelated to your degree field of study ie, in this case, no science papers. You need to successfully complete all 8 papers to apply for Medicine in year 2.
Please thoroughly read this for information Entry requirements for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)

So what is the most common general education paper taken by students of Health Science?

Another quick question:
when exactly do I specify that I am intending to study Medicine in year 2? Is it done by the online application similar to the one which I applied to the university first year with, but this time, done later on during next year?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is Economics 151G.

You have to provide an application for an MBChB with a supplementary MH03 form between whenever enrollment opens and November the 1st (although this date may change from year to year).

If you have very general queries like this, please either look on the University Website (which has all official information you need to know) or search through previous MSO archives, as someone would have most likely asked the question before.

Hey guys; level 3 of OGGB is in the same part of the building as the cafe and reception, right?

EDIT: applicants who successfully get into med aren't allowed to access their interview scores?

Probably to stop people like us doing what we're trying to do :p [/offtopic]
LOL!! See, I know a really shy, socially awkward guy who got in with a 9.0 core GPA and who told me offhandedly that he got a 9/10 for the interview.

I always wondered how he managed it...
