hey guys

When are we supposed to do the DELNA test? Can we just do it during O week? I heard somewhere that BioSci101 students do DELNA during their first lab...

eh, delna was a waste of time, from what i remeber you have like a few weeks after the semester starts to do it. it consisted of an MCQ part then a comprehension part; i dont recall any grammar involved. the second half of the first lab in biosci101 is an IT run; you goto the computer labs and try out cecil, do a cecil test (not assessed) and delna IF you havn't already done it. Id advise you to do it some time between your lectures early on

Hey...was wondering if any1 is stayin at o'rorke this year...

My mate stayed at O'rorke house last year. From my impressions it's quite the party crowd and I think you will have no trouble making friends there, just stay away from the fish pie...

Hey vamsiaus, this will be my second year as a uniguide. Basically we just give you a tour of the campus, show you where your first lecture will be, help you log on to cecil and your student email if you haven't before and then for the first six weeks of uni we follow up with email and can help you with any questions you have. So it's not actually necessary and you could definitely get by without it, but if you're a bit daunted about the thought of attending university its definitely useful. You're always paired up with someone from your faculty so they'll often know what you're going to go through in terms of the papers you are doing and the work load. So I'd recommend it (but I'm biased haha) :)

@vamsiaus, pretty much what Rahrah said. Not essential, but I'd recommend it if you have a little spare time. Good way to know a bit more about UoA and meet some new kids as well.

I was a UniGuide last year and I wish someone had told me all the things I knew (and told) the first years.

auckland chem

hey guys

i am year 13 and going into BHSc at auckland with the hope of getting into med. only thing is that i have had a bad timetable and made some bad decisions and only have done IGCSE chem, but doing a2 bio. I can try and do AS chem this year, but that will get really messy for me.

So I just want to know is it worth it trying to do chem 150 in 1st semester or prep. chem (in the holidays), before i do chem 110? Or should I be fine going straight in chem 110, or do i really need to take AS chem?

thanks for your help
