Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

Phew. Had my interview, and was worried I missed the dexterity component due to time.
Nah lmao all good; I flew through my questions and I finished like 1 minute too early which was akward but no manual dexterity

I just wanted to check back; My qtac still has Pending for uq dent (even though it says I have everything I need) even though my Griffith says that I have fulfilled everything they need. Is this the same for everyone else?
Also, on my UAC it says that it has the results for the first semester; but it says that for my second semester that I have done 0 years (not even half a year), and that it is only using my first semester results. How long does it usually take for the university to transfer results to the TAC's? because I got my results on the 27th and they haven't come through on UAC or QTAC yet; but they have on SATAC. At what point would it be smart to contact the TAC's about this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi, yep for my QTAC, my Griffith says satisfied and Uq dent also says pending (but all the requirements are ticket). This is because I haven't completed 1 FTE yet and it says they'll update when further results are available, which for me will be around 21st December - so I'm kinda in a different situation to you.
On UAC, it says for me "We have obtained your results. Assessment finalised using result available." - which means they'll update my assessment when results from these studies are received.
Not sure if that was much help but yeah.

UAC will run an update around 17-Dec when ATAR results are released. Then another one on 7-Jan since UNSW says you must have results available by 7-Jan to be considered.

I don't know if UAC will do any updates between now and 17-Dec.

Thanks for the update; I'll wait it out until atars are released and see if qtac/uac are updated if not then I will get in contact.

Cal Chuchesta, if you're concerned, the TAC's can also manually request an upgraded grade/ranking - this is good when you've contested a mark and have a higher grade than what was initially released. Waiting out for ATAR release then contacting seems to be your best course of action though but if you want piece of mind you can call up too lol.

Hey, I read this on the Uq dent admissions page "If applicants have the same OP or rank, QTAC uses their UCAT aggregate score from the first four sections as a secondary differentiator."
Just checking, this is purely for school-leavers right? and if I have completed 1FTE of university by the end of this year and are past the threshold (around 6.5), is it purely based on the UCAT?

Thanks in advance!

When they say rank; they give you a rank for your GPA based on your tertiary education and after 1fte they use that over your op/atar. So yes you should be fine.

So basically your rank/GPA is weighted first, and then for same ranks, UCAT is used to differentiate?

Yup and because anything which is 6.5 or above is given 99 it doesn't matter how far you are above the threshold you get compared on ucat. So anyone with a 99 rank gets compared on ucat for the spot.

OH I didn't know that everyone above 99/6.5 would be on equal grounds. Thank you so much for the clarification!!

UQ Med sets OP1/Rank 99 as the threshold, UQ Dent says they select on Rank first but it works out to the same effect. Unlike ATAR there is no Rank 99.x in Qld and since there are not enough spots to go to any Rank 98, you all have the same Rank 99 to get past this first selection.

From there - "QTAC uses their UCAT aggregate score from the first four sections as a secondary differentiator. The UCAT section 5 (Situational Judgement) score will be used as a tertiary differentiator between applicants with the same UCAT aggregate. If another differentiator is required, the UCAT Section 1 (Verbal Reasoning) score will be used."

What happens if your university results aren't released by then? (just missed out as they are released on the 21st) - will they use your atar? or current GPA?
Do you have over 1 fte?, Because if not they will use atar I am pretty sure. If you haven't finished a whole year, they use atar. But remember there are second round offers.
