Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

what is the minimum gpa required for UAdel dent? I got a 5.3 (after first year)
They require a 90 Atar Minimum; but then they also rank it so your 5.3 after one year would be a 91 atar. But you would have to have a really high UCAT and interview score to counter act it as usually not many people w/ anything below mid to high 90s get a spot.

Their ambiguous "order of importance" of interview, then ATAR, then UCAT is unusual because they don't mean ranking on interview then using ATAR and UCAT as tiebreakers - if this were true, we would be seeing far more low 90s ATARs get a place offer. On the other hand, if it were a weighted average/ranking why not just say so like they do for medicine? (40/40/20 etc.)

Damn, I just got an email from Adelaide saying why I didn't get an offer; and they listed that medicine would have most of the offers in JAN, but not Dentistry. I hope it was just an oversight lmao.

ok i just confirmed that a majority of them will be released in Jan (only a limited number released yesterday). Phew 😅😅😅

Hiiiii,
Does anyone know what percentile for UMAT was previously required to obtain an offer at UQ? I really want to apply there but wondering if I actually have a shot as my ucat score wasn’t that great. Thank you

Iirc 3 years ago it was 86%ile (which surprised me then as being quite low), then it rose to 88%ile and again to 91%ile last year.

Hey does anyone know whether UQ historically have top-up Dent offers? Have received a Griffith offer which I'm elated by, and hadn't even entertained the possibility of getting a UQ offer, though saw this post and wondered whether my statistics (7 GPA albeit 1 year FTE, and a UCAT of 2820 with 586 SJT) might have me in with a chance.
Course Type: Dent
Offer Received: Yes
University: UQ
UCAT: 2830, 545 SJT
ATAR or GPA: 6.625 GPA
Special Considerations: None
Offer Type: CSP
Other Information:

AHHHHH
Though obviously who knows what other factors might have been at play (e.g. perhaps this GPA was held over a longer time period, or in an honours or masters)

The cut off seems to be 2830; as someone with that score got an invite. Sooo, I would definitely enrol in griffith (because they historically don't do second round offers), BUT you are in a great position for a top up offer later (mid-late feb when they do them). If enough people reject their offers then you will be all good and get a spot :)

Yeah cut-off seems to be 2830. Just curious whether top-ups are a thing! Am stoked to go to Griffith, but more the principle that I was potentially a single UCAT question off!

Yes they do have top ups!

Hey, if UQ does end up sending out second round offers then I think you’re in a great position for one. I just did 1 FTE of a regular bachelor degree, so I think it came down to our UCAT scores being 10 apart. Congrats on getting Griffith though and best of luck for a top-up UQ offer!! :)

Congrats to you too! Amazing accomplishment, and absolutely deserved.

Fingers-crossed, but hardly something I'm going to beat myself up over :)
