Hi, I'm a rural applicant for Monash, yet I haven't heard anything. I got 100th percentile in UMAT and 98.55 ATAR, so I thought I would have got an interview offer? I'm Victorian but did NSW HSC.

This is so odd I have a friend in QLD who is 99.5 ATAR 98% UMAT who is also a part of the Dean's Rural List for Monash who did not receive a interview offer yet :/
Is it possible for Queenslanders to receive interview offers later?
same )): i didn't get an interview for DRL with ATAR 99.7, UMAT 96%ile (190 overall score)

Current tally: 99.5 98%ile, 98.5 100%ile, 99.7 96%ile, all rurals meant for main round interviews just 12 days away, have not been offered.
Otoh a 98.6 98%ile non-rural interstate, not only lower scores but also meant for 2nd round, has been offered main round.

Someone please alert Monash to the situation.

Has anyone heard anything from Curtin?? :)

I know one WA guy with 99+ & 95%ile who got an interview with UWA but no Curtin. Curtin's cutoff is really high due to interviewing only 75 applicants for the 25 places for non-rural Y12s. I estimate they will invite no more than 20 interstate interviewees.

Part of DRL, but havent been offered an interview with 98.2 and 93%(185). Tried to call monash yesterday but they arent back until Jan 3rd. Very annoying :p

The person has just deleted the two posts related to this non-rural interstate offer, maybe Monash has withdrawn the offer?

Yes, sorry for the confusion. the offer was withdrawn for a 2nd round interview. They advised me that first round was for DRL and vic applicants only

A guy has received Unsw invite for 3rd round/interstate interview and wrote to me pointing out how unfair it is that he could be subjected to a higher cutoff than 1st/2nd rounds and the invite could be withdrawn. I replied as below to explain that he misunderstood, hope this helps some of you too.

Let's imagine UNSW standardise ATAR/UMAT/Interview scores to scale of 0-100 each to illustrate, and 1st/2nd round interview cutoff is [A+U]= 140.

After their interviews, place offer cutoff works out at [A+U+I]= 250
The place winner with lowest A+U has [80+80+93]

The new intv cutoff would be 150 (being place cutoff 250 minus 100 max intv possible)

On surface it looks like intv cutoff is unfairly raised from 140 to 150, but in reality if you have [A+U]= 145 UNSW do not want you to spend $1000 travel for an interview knowing you cannot reach place cutoff 250.

The UNSW offer email does NOT say the new cutoff is from the lowest successful [A+U], it's derived from the place cutoff minus the max possible interview score.

Hi,
Just wondering if second round interview offers have come out for JCU? The ones scheduled for 6-8th Jan?
If not, when do they usually come out?

Although Unsw uses the z-score method let's imagine they standardise ATAR/UMAT/Interview scores to scale of 100 each to illustrate, and 1st/2nd round interview cutoff is [A+U]= 140.

After their interviews, place offer cutoff turns out to be [A+U+I]= 250
The place winner with lowest A+U has [80+80+93]

That does NOT make interstate round intv cutoff as that person's A+U [80+80]= 160
The new intv cutoff would be 150 (being place cutoff 250 minus max intv 100)

On surface it looks like intv cutoff is unfairly raised from 140 to 150, but in reality if you have [A+U]= 145 Unsw do not want you to spend $1000 travel to do an interview knowing you cannot reach place cutoff 250.

There is a fair bit of info around on ATAR and UMAT.

Is there any info on the mean and standard deviation achieved in UNSW interviews?

With strong candidates, provided there are good English language skills, it can be hard to get a good and objective spread of marks in an interview.

Last year they came out on 29th Dec.
If true these offers are waiting for actual ATAR results it's WA holding up everyone, not released to students till 28th (although unis may receive them a few days earlier).

yes that is a very good explanation and very reasonable calcualtions.

I don't think interview scores have ever been published by any uni. But not getting a good spread shouldn't be a problem since the z-score method converts them into number of standard deviation units above/below the mean.

Just want to continue up on my earlier post...

96.~~ ATAR, 88 UMAT, non-rural, Medical SEAs for Monash Interview...

I'm looking for Uni accommodation everywhere, and some require deposits... so I want to know... how realistic are my chances at Monash? Just want some sense of my position within the Monash Interviewee cohort?

I'v been doing interview prep but should I attend the MedEntry Interview Workshop? Or do you guys think its not worth it?

Thanks a lot guys for all your help.

Not too sure about the first part, but in regards to medentry, i attended a workshop for adelaide. Personally, I found that it was not very good when the cost is taken into account, due to the fact that it is a group environment and you won't have a lot of feedback catered to you individual response. I felt the most valuable thing that I took away was the sort of question that the uni asked, as they have a compilation of past questions.

However, take this with a grain of salt as this is only my personal experience. It may be better or worse for you, and, if you have a lot of money to spare, you should consider it as it is still better than nothing.

I also just got an email about an interview at Curtin for the 7/8th of January.
I'm not a school leaver but got OP2 (QLD) in 2009,
got first class honours in Botany last year.

UMAT 96th%: 71/66/53

I've decided against going to any other interviews, I'm only interested in going to UTAS.
