... The only real notable difference in terms of candidates is that Monash gives small bonuses to the students in their state.

Another notable difference is Monash cutoff for interstate interviews is significantly higher, like last year a 99.5/94%ile (65/50/71) didn't get a 2nd round interview whereas a 99.0/92%ile would comfortably make Unsw. Once you are not let into the interview round it's moot point whether difficulty is approximately the same.

Bonuses to students in their state obviously makes it harder for students in other states. Again, this isn't very precise, but other than this slight bonus, everything else is quite similar.

how much influence does EAS have for an applicant (for UNSW)??
A lot, as long as on the EAS eligibility letter it says you were eligible for unsw your atar would've been bumped up by at least 1 point if not more
For example i have an atar of 98.7 and a umat score of 199/98%ile
Because i was eligible for EAS bonus points at unsw, my atar was bumped up to at least 99.7 if not 99.95. I was thus give >50% chance of getting a place at unsw if i obtained maximum marks in the interview.
I would not.have gotten such good predictions if not for bonus points

Which universities call to offer a place? And if I have to change my number, do you know if it's the one on the state application service (QTAC/UAC/VTAC etc...) or with the indidividual unis?

Afaik CSU Dent, JCU, UWA (and maybe Flinders?) call successful applicants on 1st round offers, but I think they all call for late offers. With late offers time is of essence, they cannot send an email and maybe wait a couple of days for your reply. They call to know rightaway if you are still available to take the offer if not they move on to the next applicant.

If you have changed phone number it's more important to inform the individual unis, but might as well inform the TACs too.

you should update your personal profile on the UAC, QTAC, VTAC etc.

Cheers for the responses.

Apparently a few interstate applicants went to first round monash interviews.... will they be considered for 1st round offers or will they be in the second round offers once the rest of the interstate applicants have been interviewed?

There's no set rule for it but I think they will be considered for 1st round offers too.
(Btw a VIC applicant last year requested 1st round interview with Unsw and got 1st round offer).

Their website says 17th of January for interstate

Am I correct in thinking that there isn't even a slight chance of a later round offer from Monash if I didn't get the interview?

As discussed previously, I didn't get an interview at Monash because one of my UMAT sections was (just) under 50 - Monash actually emailed me to let me know this was the reason. Am I correct in thinking that there isn't even a slight chance of a later round offer from Monash because I didn't get the interview? (only asking because I received a scholarship offer from Monash today, but I'm not interested in doing anything other than the MBBS at Monash)
my understanding of all universities that have a interview component is that you have to have been offered and attend and interview with them to be considered for a final position... although this is just my understanding so please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
