Oh that's awesome! I was initially under the impression there was a set number of offers for locals whereas all of us interstate are in a different set. Thank you for clearing that up!

Nope, not at all. The only perceived (but not actual, unless you count time to prepare your life/get yourself organised - which can actually be a big factor) disadvantage is that interstate applicants are interviewed and offered later than locals. The exact same set of criteria are applied to each group, so there’s no score disadvantage or reduced chance of offer, but it does mean you have to wait longer for confirmation which can be hard when committing to work/rent etc. This is a result of a (sensible in most cases - just somewhat less relevant to non-standard applicants due to reduced choice) process that assumes people will preference a home state offer and is designed to save applicants and universities time interviewing people who ultimately aren’t going to be interested in an offer. It’s most clearly relevant to school leavers, but is also applied by default to non-standards.

To illustrate: Vic school leaver eligible for interviews at JMP, UNSW, Monash. Interviews as a local for Monash, gets offer in early Jan, accepts, saves JMP and UNSW the time of interviewing them unnecessarily and facilitates the interview of another student who may have otherwise missed out.

So it makes sense, logistically, but is often just less relevant to non-standards who don’t have home state Med options.
 
I have 2 questions.
1. Is a New Zealand Citizen eligible for CSP regardless of living in Australia?
2. How many percentage of places are reserved for CSP?
 
Important caveat is the Kiwis can’t access HECS... so you better be prepared to pay the 10k/year or so up front.

Yeah, I know. It's a good thing if I can settle in a CSP position, but unfortunately, if I'm assigned to a Full Fee position, I don't think I can go to Australia.
 
Hi i was just wondering do JMP look at your GPA for non-standard applicants after the interview process? and if so, lets say after semester 1 i don't meet the hurdle requirement but meet the requirement after completing semester 2 would i still be eligible granted i meet the ucat score.

Yes, this is exactly what would happen. They’ll look at your full year results once they are known (so obviously the reverse can also be true for some people, meet the hurdle in sem 1, but dip below it when combined with sem 2).

Nope, no need for full time unless it’s going to put you below the required FTE and your ATAR isn’t above the hurdle.

It says the application will open in August but when I click on the Apply Now button, it redirects to an Applications Closed page for the 2021 admissions cycle.

I don’t think it’s opened yet - I heard mid August but I’m not certain on where I heard that.

It was exactly the same last year. It will open in August.
 
Does anyone know whether suspending my studies for this semester can affect my chances of getting into JMP? My current GPA is above the required hurdle.

No probs if you are not in 1st year uni. If you are you'll have less than 8 units by year end, JMP will count your ATAR instead.
