I called them a few days ago and apparently the lowest selection rank was 99.75 for this year? Not too sure if there are vacancies, just hoping some people decline this course for other ones at this point
Yeah, I was told the same. But I got a 99.6 raw atar and have seas so I asked them why I didn't get an offer and they said the January applicant pool might have been more competitive than the November and December round.

Let's just hope some will decline...

If I were you, I would contact Latrobe to confirm what your adjusted atar is. The median raw atar for the Jan round is only 99.55, meaning that half of the offers were made to students who had a lower raw atar than you, I don't know how seas did not boost your atar above the cut-off.

I did and they keep saying it’s confidential. I’ve called at different times and tried with different people. I emailed La Trobe too and their response was you didn’t get an offer ‘due to your application not being competitive enough for the course’.

Have there been offers sent in the feb round in the past for this course?

In previous years, there were top-up offers all the way until early March.

I got an offer for regional entry a few hours ago (RA4)
Hi! I have a lot of question I was wondering if you could answer them. Im a rural/regional student as well and want to apply to Latrobe dentistry this year! What was your ATAR, if you don't mind me asking, and also, I haven't taken chemistry which is stated as a prerequisite for the course. What would my options be? Thank you and congratulations!

Hi there! I applied as a higher education applicant. My ATAR in high school was actually quite low due to other factors (think high 70s/low 80s). My current GPA in Uni is 6.0, which isn’t significantly high either, but it’s what was achievable for me.
I hated chem in high school and actually dropped it, but retook it in university and love it. I found the way that Uni taught chem made more sense to me and catered to more learning types. There are plenty of unis that offer chem bridging courses for prerequisites as well, so if you want to, I would recommend maybe contacting Latrobe about what chem prerequisites they recognise, and what options you would have there.

My advice is: try hard in year 12 but don’t push yourself too hard. There are plenty of pathways, especially to help rural/regional people like us, such as the higher ed pathway for me. So, it’s not the end of it all if you don’t get the best ATAR. I didn’t even think dent was an option for me until maybe 1.5 years ago, and now I’m fortunate enough to be starting in a month. So plan ahead and keep working towards it, but don’t stress yourself too much.
I hope this helps, feel free to pm me for any other details/questions :)

Thank you for the advice! :) Only according to Latrobe and JCU im a rural student, all the other universities classify me as a standard applicant unfortunately because I haven't hit the 5-year mark of living in a rural/regional location. I feel like I might be in the same situation as you were in year 12 because there are some factors holding me down from doing my best such as moving to a completely new place in year 12, with an overall different atmosphere. Regardless, I'm adjusting OK whilst still aiming pretty high and trying as hard as I can as it would be so cool to get into dentistry or med straight after high school!

I emailed Latrobe about the chem prerequisites just now, I'm hoping they take Unilearn chem, its a course i found that is equivalent to year 12/13 chemistry (i don't even have a year 7 kids knowledge on chem, I know...its crazy).

What degree did you study before gaining entry into medicine, and did you have to try more than once to get in? Also, how difficult is it to maintain a high GPA? Moreover, if i don't get into dentistry/med the first time (cry), do I have to study a science-related degree (I'm very interested in economics, law, business and construction management as well but was told that it's better to do something health related)?

I wish you the best in starting dental school, it's such a huge milestone <3

It depends a lot on whether you're a metro or a rural applicant. If you're metro, you need 99.8+. If you're rural, you get points added which help boost your ATAR significantly.

Last year the minimum atar requirement was 99.00 and this year its 99.75 and my question is is it keep on going up?

last year the official atar requirement was 99.55 for metro applicants. 99 was the combined cut-off for both rural and metro applicants. No one knows what the cut-offs will be in the next few years, but I speculate that it will hover around the mid 99s.

To be fair, Latrobe gives out adjustment factors quite generously compared to other unis. For 2023, the median raw atar for latrobe dent was only 99.55.

Hey guys just an update, I managed to enrol into Unilearn Chemistry so that I can work towards satisfying the prerequisite requirements of Dental Science (Honours). To those who are familiar with Unilearn Chemistry, what was it like studying the course at TAFE online, how long did it take and how hard was it to get 80 percent on all the tasks including the final exams? Im really nervous about getting a high mark on all of the tasks and the final exam within the course as I have not even undertaken year 11 chemistry. Whoever can help, thanks so much!

Hi, I would like to know if Latrobe dent considers SEAS / gives out atar adjustment factors to rural applicants (RA3).

I saw online that latrobe will not require ucat anymore for 2024 dent entrance as well, so what will the rural adjusted atar required to have a fair chance for an interstate RA3 applicant?

I was told by an academic advisor I emailed about the same thing that you have to ensure your ATAR is a minimum of 90 for a chance. To be realistic id say 95 (im RA3 as well).

Hello. I don't usually post on anxiety provoking sites like this one. I have received an offer (17th Nov) and enrolled for Latrobe dentistry. I took a gap year so don't stress, I think that played a part in my early offer.
Good luck everyone!
Hey, this may be a bit late but congrats! I scored a 99.2 atar and I am currently taking a gap year. Would you mind sharing your ATAR and if you applied via the aspire program? Thank you sm!
