Got an offer from Monash today for Biomedical science. Does this mean I did not qualify for the interview for MBBS.
Asking for a friend:
Say, you know you got a high enough UCAT and ATAR as well believing you did well in the interview to get into at least BMP at Monash but for some reason, you didn't put it down. You don't get an offer for unbonded in first round offers. If people reject offers (like interstate people), if spots in the unbonded course get offered second round, will it go to a BMP student or a student who did better but did not put BMP in the course preferences?
A further question from my friend...
He received a bmp place from UQ with a 98.6 ATAR and 90th percentile UCAT. However, he didn't put an EAS application, and on the Monash calculator, his ATAR goes to 99.7+ based on SEAS. I get that you don't really know how well you did on the interview, but say he did alright, what are the chances he gets an offer from Monash second round. Furthermore, if he puts BMP in his preferences now, will he be considered in the second round?
LMG is correct, Monash//VTAC prohibit adding med courses now.I don't know about Monash specifically, but all other unis prohibit preference additions at this late stage. I'm confused about your comment re. the SEAS. Did he apply for this at Monash or not?
Yeh sorry I meant he didn't apply for EAS in QTAC but he applied for SEAS at VTAC. He's already applied for unbonded med at Monash as you were meant to, but wants to add bmp as well.I don't know about Monash specifically, but all other unis prohibit preference additions at this late stage. If there is, we haven’t come across one yet, I don’t believe. Thanks for collating the data. Is there any special rule for Monash , such as 50/50/50 for UMAT previously?
I have just booked my holiday but got interview invite this morning at 8.00am with atar 99.65 and ucat 3090is there any chance of me getting an inerview for monash with 2980 and 99.3 interstate becuase i want to book holiday tickets
Just adding to this, I called Monash today and they said they had started sending invites progressivly from the 14th, and would continue to send them out till this SundayIt looks like this year Monash really fked over interstate applicants by increasing the ATAR+UCAT requirements a LOT.
99.6+96%ile, 99.55+98%ile were both unsuccessful in obtaining an interview offer.
If there are any further top-ups, it seems unfortunately that veeeee your chances of getting an interview offer are very slim.
I hope this means that Monash has improved the interview offer to place offer ratio, rather than shrinking the interstate quota.
Fingers crossed to everyone waitingJust adding to this, I called Monash today and they said they had started sending invites progressivly from the 14th, and would continue to send them out till this Sunday
You would you gotten an interview in the first round considering your high scores!! Did Monash call or email you? when?Uni: Monash (also got invited to UWA, Curtin, Adelaide, UNSW)
Course: Med
UCAT: 3080 (98%)
ATAR: 99.65
No special considerations
State: WA
Monash told me I was offered an interview due to other applicants declining their spot, meaning I wasn't actually initially considered despite my ATAR and UCAT.
Somehow I doubt that this is the case, unfortunately. It’s completely consistent with Monash’s history of heavily prioritising Victorian applicants and leaving minimal places for interstate applicants.I hope this means that Monash has improved the interview offer to place offer ratio, rather than shrinking the interstate quota
Something fishy is going on for 99.95+98%ile to be given a top-up offer - perhaps Monash is now ranking applicants solely on UCAT with ATAR as some sort of threshold?Uni: Monash, UWA, Curtin, UNSW, USyd, and JCU (JCU with a previous actual ATAR of 99.60)
Course: Med
UCAT: 3070 (98%)
ATAR: 99.95
No special considerations
State: SA
Monash also told me yesterday evening that I was offered an interview due to other applicants declining their spot.
Yeah, I looked at the data that's been shared here so far and that seems to be the case. Nobody has reported an interview with a UCAT lower than 98th, and some of those have been top-ups. Pretty bizarre method!Something fishy is going on for 99.95+98%ile to be given a top-up offer - perhaps Monash is now ranking applicants solely on UCAT with ATAR as some sort of threshold?
