Thanks for your help legendofzelda. I've already seen that post and figured out that I was borderline for JMP and adelaide interstate as well as uncompetitive for WSU non GWS and UQ interstate. I was wondering if I should just not apply for UQ med and WSU since there is such a low chance of receiving an offer - my 776 weighted to 790 cutoff for WSU or should I just hope that cutoffs drop at the expense of my other preferences? I was also wondering if there were any updates on predicted scores since the release of prelim percentiles as JMP is one of my top choices but my score is just around the cutoff range (2400-2430).

___________
A1 replies: What's your predicted ATAR? If quite a gap below 99.50 you can skip UNSW to save a slot.
With WSU you can include for now. If you get an interview, all good. If not it can be removed in December for another course, in time for 1st round offers.
UQ or not is a matter of the $$ for QTAC application. Myself I wouldn't take the risk not trying but it's up to you.

The preliminary statistics are out for 2025 UCAT
Preliminary statistics for UCAT ANZ 2025
The following table shows preliminary statistics for UCAT ANZ 2025.
Just over 16,950 candidates sat the UCAT ANZ 2025.
Median
Verbal Reasoning 610
Decision Making 650
Quantitative Reasoning 660
Cognitive Scaled Score 1920
SJT 593

Any insights?? Or how these might impact percentiles?
The average for this year was actually exactly 0.75 x last years average (2588) = 1941. The projected median calculated using this formula is 0.75 x 2570 = 1927 which slightly overstates the actual median at 1920. If we extrapolate to 90th percentile - 0.75 x 3060 = 2295 which I reckon is an overestimation of the actual mark. Im hoping that JMP's cutoff last year 3240 x 0.75 = 2430 is a slight overestimation and candidates in the low 2400's can get interview offers even with the increased competition and JMP's preferencing of hunter new england, central and mid north coast kids. Do you guys think the 90th percentile of the UCAT will be a larger overestimation than 50th percentile using the 0.75 x previous year score formula? Or will it be relatively close to actual due to mark inflation and more study time for remaining sections? How much do you guys think JMP's local preferencing will affect cutoffs and does the predicted (2400-2430) factor this in?

i think u should apply if you've already made a uac application. percentiles will be released next month so just hold on tight.

Hello, do you guys think I can get interviews/offers for JMP, WSU non GWS, Notre Dame, CSU Dent, Adelaide Interstate Med and Dent, and UQ Dent with these scores? I am a non rural NSW student and think I might be borderline for a lot of them. Also, I was wondering if JMP interviews will be in person or on zoom this year as I've been hearing a lot of conflicting information.

VR: 730
DM: 790
QR: 900
Total: 2420
SJT: 614

Does anyone know which unis do multiple rounds of offers cause I've heard JMP and WSU only do one round of offers. Would It be a bad idea to fill all my preferences for UAC with med and dent courses for first round and only change to an alternative (law, actuarial studies, economics) in the second round or are the places limited for those courses at unis such as USYD/UNSW and I might miss out?

Thanks for your help!
A1 Do you know if JMP will be in person or online as it was online for a few years due to COVID have have received some information it may be in person this year so may have to plan for that if I get an interview. Also would it be a bad idea to preference UNE over UON just due to the fact that UNE is rural and can help matching into competitive medical specialties, i.e. Opthalmology rural experience in criteria? Thanks in advance.

JMP will be best-placed to provide accurate advice on interview format.

You should preference campuses in the order of your actual preference. You’re only on campus for the first two-three years (from memory) and then will be allocated to various clinical schools in the region. Even if you’re at UoN, you can preference a rural clinical school for years 4 & 5.

Tbh, your medical school is unlikely to contribute much to speciality selection. It’ll be what you do from intern year onwards, so don’t get too caught up in that.

Nice job, that should be good enough for JMP unless there's another crazy jump in cutoffs!
I’m sorry but may I ask what does JMP stand for? I guess it’s like joint medicine program, but is it like for a specific uni? Thank you. I’m so confused

Give it a search on Google, but essentially it is a singular medical program offered at UoN and UNE campuses. The preclinical teaching/exams at each uni etc are the same from year 1-3, and both cohorts are pooled together in the hospitals for year 4/5 placement years. So you apply to the JMP, and based on your interview performance you are offered to your higher preference uni.

Hello
I recieved a 2240 UCAT and conifdent in a 99.95 ATAR. Applying from nz so interstate I beilive. Just wanting to know my chances at any med school in aus. With my UCAT on the lower end perhaps smaller schools? Hoping for UNSW though.

___________
A1 replies: 2240 is unlikely enough for the UCAT schools, except a small chance for UNSW/Monash thanks to the 99.95.
However 99.95 should give you a straight place offer from Griffith & USC, UMelb Chancellors (I think UMelb accepts overseas 99.95s now), possibly Flinders place, a USyd interview, possibly JCU interview. That should keep you busy enough.

Hi guys, I'm honestly a bit lost on my chances for getting into any med/dent schools in Aus for this year. For context I'm in my 2nd year of uni with a cumulative WAM of 90.8. This is the second year I've sat the UCAT and I got 670 VR, 700 DM, 900 QR (2270 total), 518 SJT. I feel quite lost since I'm getting mixed ideas that anything above 2250 is safe then others are saying over 2400. I'm most interested in WSU and UNSW med, but I'm willing to apply to all med/dent schools. Do you guys think I have a shot at any of them around Australia, and if so, which ones?

___________
A1 replies: Being non-standard you're only med eligible for JMP, WSU, UNSW, JCU (and Bond if you have $$).
2270 670VR are unlikely enough for JMP & WSU.
Non-UCAT JCU is probably your best chance. UNSW is possible depending on what %ile 2270 is.
I don't know about the dent schools to help, sorry.

I received a 2270 UCAT with a 99.3 ATAR from domestic SA, with SEAS and EAS for Monash and UNSW respectively. Where are the chances of me getting an interview, and what would you all say the percentile is for my UCAT (680 VR, 690DM, 900 QR and a 571 SJT). Thank you all!

Monash looks unlikely as interstate. If 2270 converts to 92%ile then unsw is possible.

Hi everyone,

I’d love some advice on where I might stand a realistic chance of getting into medicine with my stats:

  • ATAR (predicted): 99.5
  • UCAT: 2260 (VR 820, DM 660, QR 780)
  • EAS: Eligible for Monash, UNSW, WSU, UND, CQU, La Trobe, and others
  • Location: Currently living in a rural area, but I don’t qualify as a “rural entry” applicant (haven’t been here 5+ years)
  • Preferences: Monash is my top choice. I also know JMP has a lower ATAR requirement for students in my area.

I know my UCAT is on the lower side compared to typical cut-offs, but with EAS and my ATAR prediction, do I have a realistic shot at Monash? And which other unis should I be prioritising given my profile? I have applied to all universities in each state except Queensland due to the limitation of preferences on QTAC.

Any advice or insights would be really appreciated!

Thanks :)

Thank you A1. Would it be necessary to do SAT to also bypass the ATAR requirement? My concern is in case my GPA might not neet the 6.5+ cutoff even if I achieve First Class Honours.

___________
A1 replies: I'm not sure if SAT will help. One uni (namely USyd) has indicated SAT is not accepted in place of ATAR. UNSW does accept SAT but only says so on the webpage for int'l applicants. Best you call ask UNSW Med directly if SAT is accepted for domestic applicants.
Btw your UCAT is likely good for JMP interview too, if you can move to UoN/UNE
A1, not sure if this flips all what we know about SAT being used by UNSW or not for domestic applicants on its head. It's all over the place from what I was even told in the r/UCAT discord. This was in the FAQ page of UNSW med for local applicants.

They use as example the most recent between HSC and SAT.
Then SAT is not listed among the Accepted High School Qualifications. They love to puzzle us don't they

In the International Qualifications section SAT is accepted for some countries but not in the list for Australia.

Further down the section 'What if I don't have any of these qualifications' says you can use STAT (not SAT) but only for certain degrees not Med.

Oof, UNSW does like to troll everyone.

Thanks A1 . It looks like I might have a chance with just Monash with WSU being hit and miss as I am short of the target.

___________
A1 replies: Not "just Monash", you'll almost certainly get interviews from JMP & Adelaide, and UNSW if 99.50+.
Monash is actually less of a chance than these schools due to your "only" 99.5+. Also try for Notre Dame & Curtin.
Question on the Monash chances. Is 99.5 low despite me being VIC local?

___________
A1 replies: Sorry my previous reply to you was wrong (wrong coz you quoted another member's post, made me think the 2460 was your UCAT).
Being Vic local 99.50 + 2370 will certainly get you Monash interview.
It might give you better than 50/50 chance for a place offer too.

Thanks A1 . I am thinking with my score of 2370 (VR: 850 DM: 790 QR: 730 SJT: 690) and a projection of 99.5 , I am hoping I could target Monash, WSU, UNSW and JMP. Adelaide seems to have a high UCAT cut off from the tables I've seen online i.e 97 percentile for interstate. Based on the prelim results, it seems mine would sit around the 95 ish . Would it be wise to also try SATAC ? I know nothing is guaranteed but just trying to get my head around what's feasible.

___________
A1 replies: Apart from Monash certainty UNSW interview is very likely with ATAR 99.5+.
You're borderline for WSU interstate thanks to the 850VR.
But a bit less than borderline for JMP, Adelaide, UQ. These are just guesstimates, I'm reluctant to rely on them to suggest you submit SATAC QTAC applications or not.

If anyone could give any advice I would be eternally grateful. I also wanted to note that I am located in Tasmania, if that is relevant.

___________
A1 replies: Depending on category EAS/SEAS give various bonus marks it's difficult to estimate how much it helps.
Generally EAS wil boost your ATAR to 99.95 but not UCAT your weaker score. So it doesn't help for the UCAT-heavy schools like WSU, JMP, Adelaide, UQ.
Your chances are with UNSW & Monash (and Adelaide 2nd round if they still have one) where interview selection is based on ATAR+UCAT, to make use of your 99.95. You have submitted the TAC applications now sit back wait for the outcome, there isn't much you can prioritise.

If anyone could give any advice I would be eternally grateful. I also wanted to note that I am located in Tasmania, if that is relevant.

Also adding on some non-ucat unis I would apply to Usyd for their DDMP. Because you are from Tassie you may be able to qualify for MySydney which lowers the requirement to 99.5 for med.
