You’ll (most likely) get interviews at Adel (for med and dent), JMP, Curtin and UWA. Your UCAT may be slightly too low for a WSU interview (but worth an application) and an interview at UNSW will depend where in the 99+ range your ATAR actually falls. Based on last year your scores are likely too low for Monash as an interstate student. If you’re super lucky you might land a bonded UQ position (med) or dent place. Also worth an application to JCU if you’re willing to study there, and again your chances at any of Griffith’s campuses will depend on how far into the 99s you go with your ATAR. If you have enough UES bonus points to lift your ATAR to 99.9+ then you could land a Flinders offer. UTAS is worth an application as it’s free, but probably unlikely as an interstate student unless your ATAR is well into the upper end of the 99s. Good luck

Last year for UQ: You needed a high 95th %ile UMAT (=94th UCAT) for a CSP and a 93rd %ile UMAT (=92nd UCAT) for a BMP.

Griffith: Last year you needed a 99.5 ATAR for a USC provisional spot. The GC/Nathan cutoffs typically start at 99.8 for a first round offer and drop to anywhere around 99.6-99.7 generally for later rounds.

I assume you’re talking about competitive stats for Med.

ATAR only for Griffith of about 99.75 (varies slightly depending on campus).
ATAR of 99.00 to be eligible for UQ, then UCAT around 91st-92nd%ile (for bonded place) if UMAT is anything to go by.

My preference is to get the shortest (5-6 yrs) non bonded position in Australia (This is due to family reasons and I need to get a Merit s'ship to do it too, otherwise I have to go to UQ and spend 7 years)
What are my chances at Monash, WSU, UNSW and JMP. I have applied all 3 med courses in VTAC and I know the interview offer depends on my ATAR. ATM I am applying for UAC.

2. How do these universities allocate bond and non bonded places?
3. I like UNSW too even it is 6 years but is there any chance for me there to get an interview?

You’ll definitely get interviews at JMP, WSU and Adelaide. UQ will depend if you meet the ATAR threshold or not - if you do, you’ll get a CSP there. UNSW and Curtin interviews will depend on where your ATAR falls in the 98-99 range (though you might get a Curtin interview even with a 98). Monash looks very unlikely unfortunately as an interstate student. UWA should invite you for interview but you’ll need to meet the 99 ATAR.

Your chances then come down to your interview - at JMP you’ll have about a 1/4 chance, at WSU you’ll have about a 1/3 chance, at UNSW you’ll likely need a well above average interview (again depending on your ATAR). Note these numbers are very rough guides as there’s several other factors at play with place offers.

1. WSU, JMP and UNSW (this is my order of preferences). Is WSU better than JMP?

No, both are 5 year courses in NSW. It’ll come down to your personal preference of where you want to live etc.

All candidates are interviewed, then ranked on a list. The top x candidates (71.5%) get a CSP, then the next x candidates get a BMP, then the remainder miss out on a place at that uni.

As above - if your ATAR is close to or above 99 then you very likely will, but if it’s in the mid-low 98s then probably not.

4. How is accommodation around WSU compare to UNSW. Cheaper? Safer?

3. Given you’re talking about interview performance, no, JMP is definitely not the easiest, it’s the most difficult. Offers are based 100% on interview performance and JMP interview 4x more applicants than they have places available. Even an ‘average’ interview is no-where near enough. If you have more questions about this, please ask them in the appropriate threads.

What do you mean by "do a good job"? If UNSW gives you an interview then yes, you'll still have a chance. It will all be relative to your ATAR and subsequent interview performance, though.

That comment is a little difficult to respond to as each university has different selection criteria. In the past WSU has had higher UCAT cutoffs than JMP so it would be harder to get an interview there, but JMP interviews more candidates so gaining a subsequent place offer would be more difficult than WSU as there's more competition.

UNSW is hard to compare to the others as it also takes into account ATAR, but as a broad rule it is probably the second most competitive university to get an offer at for a non-Victorian.

chances are quite good that you will land a uq dent spot, last year was 91st umat so 90 ucat, and previous years have been around the 85th-88th ish mark so yeah

I would say quite unlikely for UNSW since if you look at MSO's 2019 place offers, it didn't drop below 93rd percentile for non-rural. But obviously, there is the interview & extra data not on MSO.

Yeah I definitely feel the same way. Only thing that gives me hope is the fact that 98.20 + 99th percentile (98th for UCAT) got an unbonded offer

With selection rank 99.6-.7 & 89%ile you might scrape an interview with UNSW with 10-20% chance for an offer. At this stage you are quite low among the interview cohort but a top interview can still get you an offer, otherwise (i.e. if there was no hope at all) the school wouldn't waste their time & a slot to interview you.

Your UCAT is likely too low for WSU but possible for JMP where you have 1 in 4 chance for a place. Good luck.

If you maintain a 6.5+ GPA I'm nearly certain that you'll be getting an offer given your UCAT it's extremely unlikely that the cutoff will be even near your score
