I think the answer book is wrong. It should be KT not KS

----------

Change the letters to numbers and it starts to make sense

1,2 > 4,7 > 11,16 > 22,29(29-26=3=c)

Add 1 then 2 then 3 etc to the previous number

1,2 > 4,7 > 11,16 > 22,3(or 26+3=29)
~,(1+1) > (2+2),(4+3) > (7+4),(11+5) > (16+6),(22+7)

And continue the pattern. Answer is (3+8),(11+9) or K,T

Though I could be wrong. Haven't done the UMAT in a looong time.

I get KT as well :( and im sitting UMAT soon
you write the alphabet and their respective numbers under it.

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
123456789....

for AB, the numbers are 1:2
for DG the numbers are 4:7
for KP the numbers are 11:16
and for VC its 22:29 (we can write this three as 29... 26+ and extra 3 numbers = 29)

when we look at the first set of numbers, 1,4,11,22
the difference respectively is 3,7,11 ....n+4 hence the next term will be 15 letters after v... which is letter 37 or 11, which is K

for the second set of values, the numbers are 2,7,16 and 29
the differences are 5,9,13 and so on,,, hence the next letter will correspond to the number 17+ 3 =20, i.e. t
hence KT

in the exam... correct me if its wrong to do this... but ill test the first set of numbers, then seeing how A is the only one with (K, ?) then ill choose A... i would bother checking the second letter....?

hey cheers for the reply guys!

yep i did the exact same method, but instead i saw that the difference between the two letters increased by 2 i.e. 1,3,5,7 hence the next set had to differ by 9
(KT which is 11,20)

however there is no KT :( too bad there is no explanation for this

btw im having real trouble with pick the middle questions
i use the 3'2 rule alot but i still take way to long to answer the questions any tips would be greatly appreciated.

If you're talking about the ACER booklet that everyone who registers automatically gets- there is the option KT and yeah I went with the difference between the letters (ie. how many letters in between, increasing by 2 every time) and it worked out.

If only I had someone to remind me that umat was coming this time last year. Then I wouldn't have been bludging by working on a competition. lol.

O man, im very much screwed. Being doing practices papers and cant even get 70%.

Raw mark doesn't indicate anything; it's all dependent on how well you do compared to everyone else.

And you still have a fair bit of time till the UMAT, so if there's anything you're struggling with, ask on the forum or check the wiki.

LT is right, its not raw scores so thats why you can not possibly know how it will turn out until you get the results...which sucks i know.

ACER emails tickets with the time and venue 2 weeks prior to the date. So expect to receive yours sometime around Wednesday next week.

Advantages for you- many will be sitting the test for the first time and have no idea how difficult and time-constraining it really is. So you've got that on your side. There'll no doubt be many who'll read rather than skim passages, and will answer in order of the questions provided rather than in order of difficulty for them. ^_^

Hi,

I was wondering if after completing a section in the UMAT is it taken from you? Or are you just not allowed to move on to a section before it's allocated time?

To phase that better say, for example, I complete section 2 with time to spare can I go back to section 1?

Thanks.

No you can't - you can only do the section which you're meant to be doing. It isn't taken from you, but each section has shapes on it which tell supervisors if you are looking at the wrong section. If they notice (which they will because it is incredibly tightly supervised), consequences will be really bad (from memory it's like..you can't retake the umat for the next 5 yrs or something?).

Oh. That's not nice :[

But I expected nothing less. Thank you.
