YES! WOO! CAN'T WAIT TO SIT THE UMAT!! YEAAAHHHHH!!! I LOVE YOU ACER! YOU COULDN'T HAVE CREATED A BETTER APTITUDE TEST THAT REFLECTS A PERSONS ABILITY TO BE A HEALTH PROFESSIONAL THAN THE UMAT! YAY!!

</sarcasm>

I'm interested in the diamond package for M*******. Does anyone know whether they're worth their really high price or not?

Hey booklova, I did the diamond package last year. It's good, except I reckon the two day workshop is a waste and the only thing really worthwhile in that workshop is the exam where afterwards you get your percentile(which I found to be wrong in comparison to the real UMAT). The actual online material is reaally useful, especially for section 3.
This year, i'm not going to bother doing the diamond, and personally i dont think it's worth paying so much more for.

Hey guys, please don't talk about those rubbish courses, or we'll just have another locked UMAT thread..

I'm looking forward to it this year!

hope i go well lol... wishful thinking

WOOT GOODLUCK EVERYONE
( i may have said this earlier in the thread but i want to restate it)

hope you all get your goals

im so scared for the umat but i guess i'll just see...

Just a question before you recommend that (unnamed course) is good. Did you get in?

No?

I find that it is very hard to qualify, then.

very true.

I have a family friend that got into UQ med, and he recommended the (unamed course) to me. Plus I had a look at the website, quite liked it and so joined.

an important thing to remember is that these course wont automatically get you an interview/good umat score. these are just assistants or tools to help you prepare. many people I know doing these prep courses still dont get interviews. It is what you do with them.
good luck

It depends largely on yourself. What you do to the material given to you etc. But imo the (unamed course) could help people to some certain extend.

5 of my fellow students got med or provmed and we all got multiple offers (bonded and unbonded) - non of us did these courses and several of our friends who did the courses did not get in... maybe they are right and you cant train for other than part c (and you can do that by yourself anyway)

Anecdotal evidence. Likewise, I could say that 9 people in my year at school did that unnamed course, one of them didn't, the one who didn't got in and two out of the 9 got in. The others had really dismal scores, including a couple of people who were very diligent and did the practice day in and day out. It doesn't prove anything.

Thus, I still find that the comment recommending a course when the poster of the comment failed to get in after doing that course cannot really be taken seriously.

A lot of things largely depend on yourself. If X person did Y course and got in, who is to say that it was not entirely due to X person's innate ability and not due to Y course?

******** prep material

I'll be sitting it this year too.
I've been looking at some egregiously expensive prep materials online.
One that has been highly recommended is ********...anyone heard about it?

Well, I'm putting it out there that if there are two others who want to do this prep course with me it's $570 each (a discount from the $790 you pay if you don't have a group of 3, which means it's in our interest to team up!)

I don't have any affiliations with ********, just looking for a way to make the cost a bit more bearable!

Discussion of UMAT prep courses is against the rules here. Try asking on the boredofstudies forum.

It's one hell of a lot more bearable without said cost at all. There is a lot of similar stuff for free/much cheaper out there.

The other thing is that as med/dent has highly competitive entry criteria, they are clearly being not in your best interests if you recruit more people (on a large scale). If the course helps (not saying that it does or does not, but I am saying it is overpriced), then why would you want other people to also do it? So they can push you down the rank order? Clever.

by the way, before you post any further, read the RULES:

thanks.

thats a good point. it is better if less people do courses for you, but you may need someone to discuss umat theories and things with..thast what mso is for!
