just wandering, how do you actually let UWA know that you're willing to take up a bonded medical place? like is there an extra form you have to fill?

Hey ruky :)
Well, you apply through TISC and there is an option for Med bonded. Usually you put that as 2nd pref and your unbonded med as 1st pref. :)

The website: https://tisc.edu.au/

TISC is basically like UAC (seeing as you are from Sydney) so yeah, you do your application online. I don't think you have to fill in extra forms for UWA undergraduate Med if you're a school leaver or using your ATAR from school. :)

All the best!! (y)

i didnt know about the different codes for a bonded medical place and a normal place, so now i realise that i didnt apply for the bmp last year :(
well i wont make that mistake again this year!

waddlechubs, thanks heaps for telling me about that :)

oh and btw waddlechubs, how are you finding dentistry so far? Im also considering that as well.. also if you dont mind me asking what was your yr 12 result + umat score? and do you know around how high they would need to be for interstaters?

for a 90th+ overall percentile, what percentiles would you need for each section... my strongest section is 3 followed by 2 then 1... any suggestions?

you can't actually specify because no one really knows the calibre of your cohort and there could be a whole bunch of combinations that would give you that percentile. I was struggling with that part of the umat too - I really wanted some idea of how I was going so I would know which section to improve on most, but at the end of the day, knowing won't really matter - you should try your best either way, and that's the most you can do.

cant say for sure cause it changes each year. but i got 91 with:
Section 1: 57 (78%)
Section 2: 56 (84%)
Section 3: 67 (93%)
Overall: 60 (91%)

Yeah, percentiles change every year depending on quality of cohort and the difficulty of the exam.
Someone got like 93% by acing 2 sections and failing a section (like 0-20%) [though i have to check my sources] [p.s. this was not me =p]

haha surrrrreeeee it wasnt you. but thats fine, it was probs section 1 for the 0-20% i hate S1

As a general rule, if your score is that much higher than the median, the overall percentile should greatly exceed the mean of the individual section percentiles.

As reference, I got

S1: 99th %ile
S2: 70th %ile
S3: 95th %ile

Overall: 98th %ile

Sorry I didn't catch that, could you please elaborate on that?

EDIT - Don't worry I understood

Great scores btw, any tips on S1?

i take it that the percentages in the brackets are ur percentile... what are the other scores?

the other scores..are.../100 i believe..the weighted score. It was the score given on the results along with the percentile

cheers for the help Miss_universe... you just make my world (should i stop with the lame jokes?)

no! i love lame jokes! :p you will have a field day if you knew my first name...so many lame jokes all year round...:D
any way i can help. im sure you will pwn the umat

They're not out of 100.

They're not out of 100.

not always but on the results document where i got it from it said quote:

Q What is the maximum possible UMAT Score?
A The maximum possible UMAT Score can differ from one Section of the test to another, and from one year to another.
Most UMAT Scores are between 0 and 100.

>_> maybe it doesnt mean for each section? im not sure..

There are a few scores that go over 100, and I have a theory that the maximum score you can get depends on the "difficulty" of your questions, so having a paper with easier questions gets your score capped at a lower number.

yes i agree. i think they weight harder questions with more 'marks'. i meant to imply that it was the weighted mark (hence could be under or over 100) and they never specify how it is weighted so you just have to depend on %tiles, which is hard cause you dont know until you get the results if you have done well.
