UNSW UNSW Medicine: General Entry Questions and Discussion

I’m not sure about situational judgment, but I don’t think preference matters since I had UNSW as my third preference and got an invite.
Do you think UNSW looks at VR and SJT as well and not only the total score considering people with high UCAT have received rejections?

To avoid further confusion can we please confirm all the "rejection" posts above were the "You have not been considered for this round, wait till next round" type? Has any NSW applicant received a rejection?

Btw UNSW says here > Selection For Interview | Medicine - UNSW Sydney
"The Situational Judgement mark from the UCAT ANZ will not be considered."

Just reconfirmed with a friend, straight up rejection with no reconsideration.

University: UNSW
Course: (Med or Dent): Med
Percentile rank: 92
VR: 670
DM: 710
QR: 870
AR: 720
Total: 2970
SJ: 637
JPM/WSU formula (58%VR + 12%DM + 12%QR + 18%AR):
Predicted ATAR/GPA: 97.3 (IB 39) GPA: 6.8
Number of completed university semesters: (non-standard applicants only): Honours Degree
Rural: (yes or no): no
State: NSW
Other Special Considerations: (inc. GWS, EAS, indigenous pathway, Broadway, Monash Guarantee, etc): no
Are you sure you didn't get any special considerations?

I recieved this email with a 99.85 and 3060 ucat (nsw applicant)
"On this occasion, we regret to inform you that your application has not been successful.

We want to thank you for your application, we know how competitive the selection process is for securing an interview. Selection is based on a combination of your academic results and your UCAT ANZ result (overall percentile). You can find more information on how we select applicants for interview on our website. "

so yeah its a no reconsideration type

Currently we have these two non-rural non-EAS invites:

- 95.60 / 7 = Equiv ATAR rank 97.8 / 96%ile (3070)
- 97.3 (IB 39) / 6.8 = Equiv ATAR rank 98.5 / 92%ile (2970)

In these equivalents I used 7=99.95, 6.8=99.8 to be on the safe side. So if your combo is better than these but no invite we need to take up with UNSW.

Is there a way where we can have a section with 'Non-standard', GPA/WAM, Rural or Metropolitan, EAS or other considerations with a result of 'Interview offered'? & hopefully one with 'School leaver', Rural or Metro, EAS or other considerations with result of 'Interview offered'? I'm confused as I'm seeing all these great scores and a unsuccessful application? o_O

Could it be because they might be non-standard applicants? The first invite mentioned in the quote has the exact same UCAT percentile as mine but lower ATAR, and had completed two semesters of uni. Could they have done well at uni, which meant they were selected in preference over others with a higher UCAT+ATAR combo?
