Griffith Griffith Medicine: Provisional Entry General Discussion

Hi. Guys just got an atar in Qld for 99.65. Do I still have a chance for Nathan and GC?. Or USC is my only chance?

I did pretty well ( my opinion) in the JCU interview because I can talk naturally infront of an interview panel and I had genuine answers and not written false answers. This was Back by my strong written application. Which I talked about my leadership positions. Multiple high level Sports teams and alot of volunteering during yr 12.
What are my chances in any of these 4 unis
Qld metro y12 student. Thanks in advance.
Hello, I am also a QLD student this year and am in a very similar situation to you with the same atar (hoping to do med). I was just wondering what subjects you did and what your results (out of 100) was for those subjects?

Hi Tabyy.

Hope you make it too🙏. I am thinking of physio if I don't make it. My subjects are specialist maths. Maths methods , chem, physics and English. Wish I switched bio to something else as it brought my score down. 🥲

does anyone know what historically the bonded griffith gpa has been?
Hey, this value varies each year and it is generally not disclosed by the administration team (at least to our cohort this year so far). What I do know is that it varies between campuses (as NA students only are compared to NA students, and likewise for GC) as well as the year (based on subjects taken, students in the cohort etc.). Though, I have heard that it varies anywhere between 6.4 and 6.8 normally (though this is entirely anecdotal evidence, as is the remainder of this paragraph). Whatever the "historical" GPA has been though, this is likely to change from this year onwards (i.e. the first years who started in trimester 1 this year) as students from both NA and GC will be pooled together and compared on one list instead of separately to determine who gets a bonded place or CSP. This is because the programs have been undergoing restructuring to make both GC and NA BMedSc degrees more similar. Nevertheless, this tends to be an insignificant factor in your degree students as from experience most students tend to not be too worried about bonded and non-bonded places.

can you guess at all what it would be like for your cohort?? or is that not possible 😓😓??

I know universities like monash and uwa consider locals first, does griffith do the same for med?
dont think so. qld unis (griffith, uq) dont seem like they favour own state students. except maybe jcu but thats mainly rural students tho. Although i have heard griffith med do have a quota for students completing undergrad at griffith if you apply for their graduate entry program.

Keen to hear where you heard this - it’s news to me.
Im assuming this is a Chinese whisperfied version of the provisional program lol, which I guess is technically a quota for Griffith undergrad students.

Emailed the admission coordinator.

This is what they said:
"I also note that due to the timing of your results being available to QTAC, your application was not considered in the January 14 offer round. Please be aware that at this stage it is unlikely that we will be making further top up offers for the Bachelor of Medical Science. Our course vacancies through QTAC are updated after each offer round and can be viewed by visiting Course offer dates and vacancy information - QTAC"

Looks like griffith won't be on the table this year :/
Hi there,
I'm from NZ wanting to go to Griffith but I'm aware that I won't be considered for the main offer round because NCEA results are highly likely to be released after the QTAC main offer round. Did you end up receiving an offer in the later rounds? And did you end up meeting the English requirements at Griffith when you met them with UQ?
Thanks

A friend of mine got later rounds. But it just depends on your ATAR bc the higher it is the higher chances of getting in for later rounds when there are only a few places left.

HI guys,
do you guys know how to study for the Griffith med program before you start the year?
I'm a gap year student and I just wanted to start studying to prepare for next year.
I just finished my second year at Nathan (Bachelor of Medical Science) and tbh just enjoy the holiday you have before the degree begins, you don't want to get burned out before you even start the undergrad 😅

Relevant thread. Would recommending reading this before you start next year.

Hi guys so i just noticed that the nathan campus and gold coast campus have different courses? Do any of u guys know the difference?

Main difference is location. The courses are equivalent for all intents and purposes, despite having different names and assessments - the course material will overall not differ much.

I'm not really too familiar with Griffith but know they had guaranteed entry at 99.85 last year for provisional entry into med.
ATARs came out today and I got exactly 99.85, is it likely that the lowest rank for entry will change for 2023 entry, or does it tend to stay the same?
Also, if I apply to both the Gold Coast and Nathan campus do my chances of getting in increase (eg, could it be that one campus accepts 99.85 and another 99.90)?
Thanks sm for any help

Yes, the campuses can have different cut offs. Applying to both (all) is recommended.

Ok, thank you!
Do you know anything about the other question (ATARs came out today and I got exactly 99.85, is it likely that the lowest rank for entry will change for 2023 entry, or does it tend to stay the same for Griffith Bachelor of Medical Science?)
