If this is about yourself you have no worries. With a Masters degree you only need a Pass average and yours is way above.
Only thing that is getting me worried is the credits that i got towards my masters from my grad cert. which wont make my masters 1 year full time ( eventhough the units i did in my grad certs are exactly the same units of masters).

I doubt they will be harsh to the point of saying the credits make a degree shorter than it's worth.

I hope they dont do that. Otherwise i am stuffed. :-S . You reckon they ll tell me my GPA that they r going to consider, before the interview?

Is the University of Newcastle sending interview invitations by snail mail again this year? Coz I'm getting a bit worried too. 98% UMAT with S1 65

Relax mate, I don't think anyone from TAS, VIC, SA, NT and WA has received an offer yet (non-rual). Also, 65 should easily meet the cutoff from what I've seen (but make sure >50 for all sections). I would think that they will come out tomorrow, being the last day of October. Also, I believe no snail mail this year.

Thanks. I got my fingers crossed for tomorrow

Checked JMP admission assessment thing. They look at the GPA after the interview, and they dont consider credits towards a degree and they dont count the grad certs. This means that my masters is equivalent to nothing, and if they take my bachelor's GPA which is like 4.24, i dont meet the threshold. All this means, i can not get into med eventhough i have got an interview. Devastated

Will interstate applicant get first round PLACE offer if they have the first round interview offer as the in-state applicatnt?

I think they do. Me from WA got a 1st round place from UQ last year. Also an MSOer from Melb requested 1st round intv with Unsw and got a 1st round place.

Just wondering is UQ not doing interviews for its provisional entry scheme this year? Coz my friend began 1st year UQ med this year, but she had to do an interview last year.

No interview this year or last year either. I didn't do one.
(mentioned UQ above for the fact the unis are not against offering 1st round places to interstate)

With your friend doing 1st year UQ med, is that 1st year MD or provisional?

She was a school leaver last year...so I'm really confused. UQ didn't have MBBS did they?

I might be wrong, but my understanding is that being granted a masters (coursework) degree (they say with a pass average but you would have to have a pass average to receive the certificate) was enough to get you over the hurdle, and once you had completed a degree at that level, the individual subjects and GPA don't matter. I am in the same position but didn't meet the UMAT threshold for JMP so haven't applied but in my initial enquiries it seemed that with a completed masters - a GPA and individual subjects weren't an issue and the grad cert and masters credits are counted together (as they 'add up' to a completed degree). It might be worth calling and checking?

Thanks rhosie, your message gives me a bit of a hope. I have checked their website specifically talking about 1 year fulltime study. My grad cert was a part of my masters as well, this is why i am going to ring them to check. My masters GPA is 5.4. And if they consider it, i ll b sweet. I ll ring them tomoz to check.

Hey guys, I will be in Vanuatu when the JCU interviews are released (away from the 9th - 16th) and can't guarantee I will have wifi at any stage as we are staying in a remote village. So I was wondering are offers released via email (as I will have my phone on aeroplane mode) and if so do you need to accept the interview or do they expect you will turn up e.g. should I give my parents access to my emails so if I get one they can accept or is it find to wait until I get home?

Thanks :)

Based on the last three years, offers are released by email. You will need to accept the offer by signing the attached form and replying via email. There is a date you will need to do this by, so it may be a good idea to ensure your emails are checked regularly. Then you will be expected to turn up at the specified date and time, usually 30 minutes earlier. They also won't change the date and time and will not do Skype interview for domestic applicants.

Btw does anyone know what ATAR is required to get into Flinders med? Coz I noticed that they only have 25 spots for school leavers and they look at 90% ATAR and 10% UMAT
