Was it possible for UNSW interstate applicant to be invited (at this stage) for the interview with only (hyper-uber, say 99+) UMAT result having been known?
I honestly cannot recollect having been asked for my predicted ATAR, neither was this sourced from my school .

Unfortunately, I don't think so. UNSW would have contacted your school and asked them to predict an ATAR. If your school did not comply, then you wouldn't receive an email offer at this stage. However, I wouldn't be too worried; In the end, it still comes down to what your final results are.

Holy Shit got a UNSW interview

UMAT - 57%ile
Atar - Estimate 98.5+
Rural - Yes
State-NSW
School Leaver - Yes

Do i realistically have any chance with my piss poor UMAT? I'l have to basically ace the interview, right?

Atar: 95ish
Rural - Yes
State -Tas
School Leaver - Yes

Thanks shadowduke
I just noted their mention why one has not been selected (at this stage);
'When we combined your predicted or actual academic result with your actual UMAT results, it was under the cut-off for the initial round of interviews'
My ATAR is neither known (actual) nor could have been predicted, no surprises then (despite having relatively high UMAT).

Any indication of the possible cut-off range - based on the existing statical info? Or just a feel (compared to e.g. previous year)?

No problem. Refer to this page by A1. [Undergrad] - 2016-17 Med schools Selection Criteria Y12s & Non-standards | Med Students Online

If everyone who does or doesn't get an interview states their scores, we could probably get a rough idea of the cutoffs.
Interview offers: JMP, WSU, UNSW
Umat: 73,59,66, 199 = 98%ile
ATAR: 98.6
WAM: ~80
Special consideration: None

'statistical' :)

My ATAR had been predicted earlier for local (UWA) purposes as 99.95% but, apparently, no interstate institution sourced for it.
Trying now hard to make it (predicted ATAR) happen (exams under way) and see what happens on 23 December (my UMAT is 99%).

Just got offered UNSW interview...however I'm not sure what this means? Does that mean that if my ATAR is below my predicted score I won't be considered?!!! Doesn't UNSW take account of EAS?

Please note that the offer of an interview in late January has been made to you on the basis of combined predicted HSC (or equivalent) and actual UMAT result. By mid-January, when we come to finalise the details of the late interviews, we will have two additional pieces of information: your actual
HSC (or equivalent) result and the total score that is required to gain entry into UNSW Medicine (HSC + UMAT + interview). If your actual HSC score is lower than the score previously predicted by your school, you may not be able to gain entry into UNSW Medicine even if you achieved the highest
possible interview score. In such cases, we unfortunately will have to withdraw the offer of an interview, as there will be no chance of obtaining a place.

Interview offers: JMP, UNSW
Umat: 62,52,72, 186 = 93%ile
ATAR: 99.75
School leaver: yes
Special consideration: None

But UNSW offer letter doesn't state (actual ATAR etc) anything like the one above for he interstate offer.

I've seen lower UMATs get in - if they're giving you an interview, you've got a chance. Give the interview your best shot!

Hey!
Since late interviews are after actual ATARs are released, they have more to go on in terms of late offers. But basically this indicative offer means that if you get in the ballpark of ypur predicted ATAR, you should get one. Probably if it was quite a bit below - as in, I wouldn't worry, you'll be fine, haha.
And yes UNSW accounts for EAS, though I'm not sure of the exact mechanism for it in medicine - it probably just boosts your ATAR as usual.
