JMP JMP: General Entry Discussion

I wouldn’t think it would be that much… it was like 93rd last year wasn’t it? So top 7% of UCAT sitters got an interview, reduce that by 650/750 and you get a percentile of 94…

I think also there’s more UCATters this year so maybe 95th percentile.

Rural score is unlikely to be above 50th percentile.

what do you reckon the rural score would be, a cheeky 70%ile?

I mean it was 2450 last year which is like the 41st percentile. Assuming 650 interviews this year and 750 last year i see it going to 51st… A 70 will be fine

There was more than 750 interviews last year. It was 900 roughly last year so the reduction in canidates if 650 would be quite a sizeable portion

Where are you getting these figures from? is it the admissions team or a mix of the website and admissions or another document? (genuinely curious)

That's a big drop in interviews for the number of offers to remain relatively the same (apparently, the number of offers released don't change at all, if so, by a very marginal amount)

900 interview offers if that was the case would have been the outlier not the 650 offered this year. 650 is 1 offer per 3.8 interviewees while 900 is 1 offer per 5.2 interviewees I know which one I would prefer. I just wasn't aware last year there were 900 invites.

From 2020 when I emailed jmp admissions

View attachment 4914From Sue JMP admissions a week ago :(
Admissions staff can be notorious for not having a clue what they're talking about. However, from my understanding normally JMP staff are pretty spot on (Unlike WSU). Looks like the cutoffs could be significantly higher then this year which is good for local or rural applicants significantly higher than the cut-off and not so good for borderline cases. Either way good luck everyone with securing an interview!

Sue is always dead on with her answers. She’s absolutely the most knowledgeable person out there for JMP admission.

Ambiguity usually comes from general admissions staff not sue specifically…

Sounds like there will be a significant rise in the entry percentiles this year then

I highly doubt JMP interviewed 900 in 2020 for 2021 intake.
The cutoff jumped from 90th%ile previous year to 93rd%ile with interview spots increased to 900?
maybe sues figure was accounting for international students which are normally left out of the admission numbers if I'm correct?

Very plausible.
However I hope Sue didn't mean 650-700 this year *including* int'l students :)

I’m wondering if perhaps 650-700 might be because they had 200 in another pathway -how many will come from Biomed?
